We’ve made hundreds of signs over the past decade and love to swap them out seasonally.  To make your own, you’ll need:

• 13 x 16 wood
• 2×2’s to frame it
• paint
• stencil (get the free cut file here)

Directions:

• Cut wood + frame pieces to size.
• Sand the edges.
• Paint wood white.
• Apply stencil (quick video tutorial here), paint inside stencil black.
• Pick out the stencil.
• Paint frame pieces brown.
• Attach with brad nails or wood glue.

That’s all there is to it!  We hope you enjoy this cute turkey sign for years to come!

For this project, you may need to make a quick trip to the craft store for the cones but probably have everything else in your craft stash.

Supplies:

• 3 styrofoam cones, various sizes
• 3 rolls of wrapping paper, various prints
• Paper decoupage
• Scissors
• Foam brush
• Note: Our Birch Wood Cans are pictured but we didn’t end up using them like we had originally planned

Directions:

1. Form a cone with your paper and, while pinching the top closed, insert styrofoam cone into paper cone, (note: leave plastic on cone so styrofoam can adhere to the decoupage.) Roll styrofoam cone until it’s completely covered with paper then trim bottom, leaving 1-2″ trim.

2. Partially unroll the paper from the styrofoam cone and using a foam brush, decoupage the wrapping paper closed. Lightly seal seam with decoupage.

3. Fold the edge of the wrapping paper under the cone and pushed deep into the styrofoam with pins. Once complete, repeat 2x with remaining cones.

Viola! Easy holiday decor that can be left up for the winter months as it’s not red and green, sweet!

We’re excited to be here today sharing our latest revamped $2 yard sale find turned Christmas decor; meet our white paper mâché deer with glittered antlers:

Take a peek at the before, (which was practically screaming at me as I walked by him to be made over! LOL!)

Into my car we went and I knew right away he would be displayed at Christmastime in a fresh white hue. A few coats of white acrylic paint was all it took.

We are constantly amazed at how a bit of paint can completely transform a piece!

Buuuuut, even with a fresh coat of paint he didn’t look complete. In fact, he was just a bit washed out.

So, I glammed up his antlers with some gorgeous glamour dust and viola! The buck is now a deer! And, a fun touch to the beginning stages of this year’s Christmas mantle.

But wait, there’s more! (Haha, I sound like an As-Seen-On-TV commercial, right?) Even with the glittery antlers, she needed something else. I tried a cute mini grapevine wreath but it was too rustic. (Had I left him a buck, it would have been fitting. LOL!) I went through my stash of ribbon and simply tied a remnant around her neck for a quick pop of red. Perfect.

We hope y’all had a FAB Christmas! It’s not time to slow down yet though (almost!) because we’ve got one last holiday to round up 2012… New Years Eve!

And we’re simply thrilled to be here today to share a simple New Years gift for your favorite crafter.

Before we get started, let’s quickly introduce ourselves, shall we? We are twin sisters Kelli & Kristi of Lolly Jane. Our little corner of blogland is filled with home improvement projects, craft tutorials, holiday decor, recipes and loads of good furniture before and afters. We just love how small touches of decor, a newly refurbished piece of furniture or a fresh coat of paint on the wall can customize a space and instantly make it yours. Well now that you know a bit about us, let’s get started (:

We thought it would be fun to pass out a few neighbor gifts to start out the new year on a playful note to some of our closer friends, something more than a yummy baked good, and something that they could actually use. We know we can never have too much in our craft stash so we decided to pass out every crafters must-have items to get their 2013 started right!

Washi tape and bakers twine are so versatile and one can never have too much acrylic paint, right? Top with our (free) printable tag, tie on with bakers twine from your own stash and you’re set:

Simply print these tags on an 8.5 x 11 piece of white card stock:

You can even cut the bottom of the tag along the mustache line to play it up a little (;

These tags are fun attached to an individual craft item or topped on a basket filled with crafty clutter for someone who will be getting her serious craft on in 2013. Enjoy!
