Hey there, disco enthusiasts and Halloween lovers! If you’re like me and have a soft spot for the shimmering allure of disco balls, you’re in for a treat—literally! Today, I’m going to guide you through a quick and easy DIY project that combines the spookiness of Halloween with the glitzy charm of disco balls. Buckle up for the ride as we create a dazzling Illuminated Disco Ball Pumpkin Cauldron in less than 10 minutes!

Disco Ball Cauldron Supplies:

• Large jack-o-lantern
• Bubble wrap, old dishtowels, or t-shirts
• Different-sized disco balls (medium, small, extra small)
• Disco ball garland
• Twinkle lights (has 8 light settings, remote, and timer)
• Globe lights (for that bubbling effect)

Directions to Make a Disco Ball Cauldron:

Disco Ball Lighted Halloween Pumpkin Cauldron. Transform your Halloween decor with this dazzling DIY disco ball lighted pumpkin cauldron.

1. Start by placing bubble wrap or dishtowels at the back of the jack-o-lantern. This will serve as a backdrop for the disco ball magic.
2. Strategically position small disco balls at the bottom front of the jack-o-lantern, ensuring they peek through the face of the pumpkin. These disco balls will be the stars of the show!
3. Layer disco balls on top of the bubble wrap, creating a dazzling display of reflective goodness.
4. Introduce half of the twinkle lights and globe lights into the mix. This is where the real magic begins!
5. Continue layering with the remaining disco balls, ensuring they’re evenly distributed for maximum sparkle.
6. Gracefully drape the disco ball garland on one side of the jack-o-lantern’s face, letting it cascade down to create the illusion of bubbles overflowing from your cauldron.
7. Now, add the rest of the twinkle lights and bubble lights to amplify the enchantment.
8. Then, for that finishing touch, sprinkle a few disco balls on top, because, let’s face it, you can never have too much disco!
9. Set your twinkle lights to the glow setting and program the timer to illuminate your cauldron for the desired amount of time. Magic should have its timing, after all!
10. Place your masterpiece wherever you desire—a mantel, a table centerpiece, a kitchen island, a porch, or even at the base of a staircase. The possibilities are as endless as the dance moves inspired by disco!

DIY Halloween Bat Mantel Ideas

Decorating your mantel for Halloween is one of the best ways to bring the spooky (or sweet!) spirit of the holiday into your home. Whether you’re drawn to a haunted house vibe or something more whimsical, a themed mantel can anchor the entire room. This year, I decided to embrace a “BAT” theme! Bats are a fun, versatile decoration that can swing between spooky and chic, depending on how you style them. In this post, I’ll share how you can transform your mantel into a Halloween masterpiece using a few easy DIY projects, budget-friendly items, and creative flair.

Let’s dive into these DIY bat-themed mantel ideas!

DIY $2 Pottery Barn-Inspired Bats

Bats are an iconic Halloween symbol, and creating your own is a budget-friendly way to add drama to your mantel. I made my own Pottery Barn-inspired bats for only $2 using supplies from Dollar Tree! These bats are sleek and versatile, and they bring a high-end look without the high-end price.

You can find packs of plastic bats at Dollar Tree. I have a tutorial on how to make the bats here — DIY Pottery Barn-inspired Bats. They give a striking, bold effect that really makes the mantel pop. Whether you’re creating a flock of bats or just a few accents, these DIY bats are a must for a stylish Halloween mantel.

Easy Bat Garland

To add more bats to the mix, I created a bat garland using beaded ribbon and die-cut felt bats from Dollar Tree. This project couldn’t be simpler but adds a beautiful layered effect to the mantel. Attach the felt bats to the garland using heavy-duty glue dots, and they’ll stay securely in place. To elevate the look, tie big bows on the ends of the garland using thick black-and-white striped ribbon. The striped ribbon contrasts beautifully with the bats, giving the garland a playful, graphic appeal.

Drape the garland across the mantel or layer it over a mirror for added texture and dimension.

Feather Wreath Hung on Black Scroll Mirror

Nothing says Halloween like a dramatic wreath! For this mantel, I hung a black feather wreath on a large black scroll mirror using a simple Command Strip hook. The feathers add softness and texture while the black keeps it moody and spooky. The wreath frames the mirror perfectly and ties the whole bat theme together with elegance. Plus, it gives a nice contrast to the sharp, angular bats flying around.

31 Halloween Sign

Add a touch of Halloween charm with a 31 Halloween sign. Whether it’s hand-painted or store-bought, this simple decoration anchors the holiday to your mantel. Place it front and center as a focal point or lean it against the mirror to create a layered look. The number 31 instantly reminds everyone that Halloween is just around the corner!

Disco Balls for Shine and Sparkle

No mantel of mine would be complete without a touch of sparkle! Disco balls are an unexpected and fun way to incorporate a little shine into your Halloween decor. Their reflective surfaces add movement and shimmer, playing beautifully with candlelight and the darker elements of the mantel. I scattered small disco balls along the mantel for a playful touch. They also contrast nicely with the black bats and keep the look from feeling too serious or dark.

Wood Candle Stick Holders

To balance out the glitzy disco balls, I used wood candlestick holders for a touch of rustic warmth. Tall, slender candlesticks add height and drama to your mantel while also serving as a base for flickering candlelight. The natural wood tones ground the darker elements and give the mantel an earthy, seasonal feel. Add some black taper candles to bring in even more Halloween vibes.

PVC Bats on the Wall

To really drive home the bat theme, I added PVC bats to the wall surrounding the mantel. These bats come in a variety of sizes and are easily attached with small adhesive strips. I arranged them to look like a swarm flying up toward the ceiling. For a more realistic effect, place the larger bats at the bottom and smaller ones at the top. And, this creates the illusion of depth and motion, as though the bats are swooping up and away!

Fall Stems in the Back of the Mantel

Adding fall stems to the back of the mantel gives the display an autumnal feel and brings in warm, earthy tones. I used a mix of faux branches with orange, yellow, and deep red hues. The stems provide texture and color, making the space feel fuller and more layered. It’s a simple addition that complements the darker tones of the bats and adds balance to the overall design.

Raffia Pumpkins at the Bottom of the Hearth

To finish off the look, I placed raffia pumpkins at the base of the hearth. These natural, woven pumpkins add texture and warmth, grounding the spooky bat theme with a touch of fall coziness. And the pumpkins’ neutral tones complement the wood candlesticks and fall stems, while the raffia material adds an organic, tactile element to the display. They’re the perfect finishing touch for a balanced Halloween mantel!

Hi, friends! How was your week?? Sorry this post is going up pretty late this week. I spent the day working on some Halloween projects. My Spooky Halloween Mantel is on my Instagram page today. I used hanging candles and hanging witch hats with candles inside. I love the way it looks! The hanging candles also have a remote that is a WAND and it’s so cool! This is a great staple to your wardrobe. It’s so soft and cozy. The shape is so flattering. A basic black tank top like this looks amazing under the soft pink sweater above. I ordered this one and it is the same shape and material as the leopard one I am wearing. I am sure I will get a lot of use out of this one. It also comes in 22 different colors and prints.

Spooky Halloween Decor

Do you love Halloween? My mom hates it but I’ve always loved it! I love cute Halloween, not gory or anything like that. This year as I was going through my Halloween decor I found a few “spooky” things and decided to use “spooky” as a cute Halloween theme.

Easy Ways to Decorate a Spooky Mantel

Add Spooky Signs

Matilda is back! She really wanted to add a little skeleton flair to the spooky mantel. We added a skeleton sign and a skeleton hand to go without spooky theme.

Spooky Banner

This spooky banner is from My Minds Eye. I draped it across the mantel and it cements the spooky theme!

Spooky Wreath

Black feather wreath is a find from HomeGoods this week and I am in love!! It certainly has a spooky element but also it is just so beautiful and eye-catching. I added it to the side of the mantel.

Spooky Blocks

These spooky blocks echo the spooky theme on the banner. I found them a couple of years ago at JCPenny. I will compile a source list at the bottom of the post of things I used or substitutions if the exact items aren’t available.

Spooky Bats

I love using these PVC bats. I think that about 180 bats were in the package I bought for under $10. Using these plastic bats gives ANY room in your home a spooky vibe!

Pumpkins and Sign on the Hearth

I added a couple of lanterns, small pumpkins and a 1 and 3 sign that I have had for about 10 years.

Add Spooky Flair to Shelves

I also decorated the shelves over our couch with some spooky elements. So if you don’t have a fireplace, you can take these ideas and spookify a shelf in your home!

Spooky Signs

I also found this cute enamel “spooky” sign. Last year I hung it on my front door. This year I hung it above the top shelf.

Spooky Paper Medallions

Paper medallions are an inexpensive way to add Halloween cheer to your home inexpensively. I placed the medallions around the spooky sign and shelves. I filled in empty space with a small spooky black cat frame and a pumpkin.

Add a Spooky Banner

I tied the two spaces together with a spooky banner. These striped banners are also from My Minds Eye and the paper materials mean that they are eye-catching but also inexpensive.

Spooky Pillows

I also found a spooky pillows. My long lumbar pillow that is orange adds a little Halloween boho vibes to the couch!

This was a fun one to put together. I took a large frame and added some laser-cut skull fabric. It was a fun mantel to create!

Halloween Decorating

Do you love Halloween?? When I was a child it was my favorite holiday. And I think that might still be true. I love Christmas, of course, but Halloween just hits a special spot for me. I don’t know if it’s the dressing up, the treats, the decorations or what. And I am a kind of weird Halloween lover. I don’t like the gory, bloody parts of Halloween, only the whimsical and cute parts. I don’t even really enjoy skeletons or skulls.

Mantel Decorating

So each year I love thinking of a Halloween mantel idea. My favorite are themed mantels and themed overall Halloween ideas. This year my friend Angie from Grey Dot Co. sent me a couple of her amazing Halloween pieces. She hand-makes each one and builds the frames and everything. They are so special!!

I am SO in love with Grey Dot Co’s entire Halloween collection: 

Angie sent me her buffalo check frame and also a smaller 31 frame. And they are adorable!!

So I designed my mantel around them! The pieces felt so happy and bright, I wanted to create a mantel that had the feeling of happiness. I thought of orchards for some reason. The way orchards feel in the fall with the late autumn sun going down and that last hot heat before the cold of fall. I imagined an orange orchard and at twilight bats coming out of their cold, dark space and flying through the field as the last light of daylight passed. I can almost smell the scent of the oranges. Isn’t that just the most amazing scent??

I mimicked the 31 in the mantel. I bought some paper mache numbers and some plaid black and white and also orange and white plaid material. I cut the material into strips and decoupaged the numbers with it.

I also decoupages some small white pumpkins with the orange and white gingham material. I think they are so sweet!

I had a vine that I had used for another project. I hot glued some pretty wood pumpkins onto the vine and then I hot glued some oranges too. From a distance I think they look like pumpkins. That makes me smile!

I also bought a big paper mache pumpkin and used the rest of the black and white gingham to decoupage it. I added an orange and white plaid bow and put it on a cake stand as a little coffee table centerpiece.

I happened to have a 31 pillow that I made a few years ago and I think it looks great with Angie’s 31 print! You can grab the free printable 31 download if you want to print it off or make a pillow. I made this pillow using Shutterfly.

Then I added the bats! In three sizes. I love the way they look like they are flying through the vines.

The last thing I did was added some candles. I love the warm look of candle light, especially in the fall. It’s so cozy!!

I’m super happy with my Bats Flying through an Orange Orchard Mantel. It makes me smile every time I see it!

Black and White Neutral Halloween Mantel Decorating Ideas

Black and white neutral Halloween mantel decorating Ideas. I love black and white – especially for Halloween. Black and white complements almost any color palette. I’ve been decorating for Halloween with black and white for a few years so I had quite a few black and white Halloween items that I loved and I was excited to use them again.

I like to use a big element in the back of my mantel. So when I saw this laser cut skull fabric at JoAnn a few weeks ago I knew I wanted to make something with it. I was originally thinking I would use the fabric as a tablecloth or possibly cover a window with it. But then I thought it would be really cool to take the fabric and frame it. I tried framing it with a smaller frame but it wasn’t the right size for my mantel. Then I remembered a bulletin board that I was going to donate. The bulletin board frame turned out to be about the same width as my mantel. I took the metal out of the bulletin board and it was perfect as a frame to showcase the laser cut fabric. All I had to do was flip the frame over and cut the fabric to overlap on the back of the board and then I used a stapler to staple the fabric onto the board.

Then I layered my other black and white Halloween items in front of the frame.

Some other things I love about the mantel are the kind of spooky looking succulent. I love adding a natural element.

The small pumpkins are dollar store pumpkins that I spray painted white. I added scrapbook beads on them and also wrapped a ribbon around one.

I love that you can add any phrase and change it up so easily. My teenagers had a blast making funny sayings with it.

There are so many fun accessories that you can use with it. All kinds of different alphabet styles, emojis, graphics and more. I am so excited to use it throughout the year!

I added a couple little banners to the bottom of the mantel. I spelled out the word SPOOKY but you could make a banner with any Halloween word. Super easy.

Some other neutral elements that I incorporated into my decor are the 3 and 1 pillows from the Number Pillows I made quite a few years ago. I’m really excited about our little Halloween mantel.

And I love that we can celebrate Halloween in a way that goes with the style of our home. The mantel is in the same room as our eating nook with the Trick or Treat sign and Halloween display and I love the way they go together.

I love making our home a welcoming place for my children. We are loving our new home and neighborhood!

We created a SPOOKY printable to use with this Halloween mantel. And I’m sharing at the end of the post – in case you want to print it out and use it.

And I had such a fun time creating some BLING pumpkins with gold stickers, trims, fringe and sequines!

I also made some doily printables and embellished them with gold glitter!

And it was so fun to frame some paper with American Crafts embellishments.

Ella printed another SPOOKY out and hot glued it to a ribbon and hung it by the front door – she’s so independent and awesome!

I love that this SPOOKY mantel goes along with my Halloween Banquette in my kitchen too!
