Hey there, disco enthusiasts and Halloween lovers! If you’re like me and have a soft spot for the shimmering allure of disco balls, you’re in for a treat—literally! Today, I’m going to guide you through a quick and easy DIY project that combines the spookiness of Halloween with the glitzy charm of disco balls. Buckle up for the ride as we create a dazzling Illuminated Disco Ball Pumpkin Cauldron in less than 10 minutes!

Disco Ball Cauldron Supplies:

• Large jack-o-lantern
• Bubble wrap, old dishtowels, or t-shirts
• Different-sized disco balls (medium, small, extra small)
• Disco ball garland
• Twinkle lights (has 8 light settings, remote, and timer)
• Globe lights (for that bubbling effect)

Directions to Make a Disco Ball Cauldron:

Disco Ball Lighted Halloween Pumpkin Cauldron. Transform your Halloween decor with this dazzling DIY disco ball lighted pumpkin cauldron.

1. Start by placing bubble wrap or dishtowels at the back of the jack-o-lantern. This will serve as a backdrop for the disco ball magic.
2. Strategically position small disco balls at the bottom front of the jack-o-lantern, ensuring they peek through the face of the pumpkin. These disco balls will be the stars of the show!
3. Layer disco balls on top of the bubble wrap, creating a dazzling display of reflective goodness.
4. Introduce half of the twinkle lights and globe lights into the mix. This is where the real magic begins!
5. Continue layering with the remaining disco balls, ensuring they’re evenly distributed for maximum sparkle.
6. Gracefully drape the disco ball garland on one side of the jack-o-lantern’s face, letting it cascade down to create the illusion of bubbles overflowing from your cauldron.
7. Now, add the rest of the twinkle lights and bubble lights to amplify the enchantment.
8. Then, for that finishing touch, sprinkle a few disco balls on top, because, let’s face it, you can never have too much disco!
9. Set your twinkle lights to the glow setting and program the timer to illuminate your cauldron for the desired amount of time. Magic should have its timing, after all!
10. Place your masterpiece wherever you desire—a mantel, a table centerpiece, a kitchen island, a porch, or even at the base of a staircase. The possibilities are as endless as the dance moves inspired by disco!

DIY Halloween Gingerbread Village

Last year, I chose a gingerbread theme for my holiday decor, and it was such a delight! I shared all kinds of gingerbread tutorials that you all loved, like how to create gingerbread houses, garlands, and themed ornaments. (scroll down to the bottom of the tutorial to HOP over to see these gingerbread projects.) This year, I thought it would be fun to take that gingerbread theme and give it a spooky twist for Halloween by creating a DIY Spooky Gingerbread Village. These little haunted gingerbread houses are perfect for adding a spooky-yet-sweet touch to your Halloween decor!

Easy and Fun Supplies for Your Spooky Village

One of the best things about this project is how simple it is to put together! You don’t need a ton of fancy materials or complicated tools. Here’s what you’ll need to create your own spooky gingerbread village:

• Black spray paint (or pre-painted black houses)
• White paint pen (fine tip recommended)
• Black paint pen (if you want to add eyes to your ghosts)
• Small light-up houses (The ones I used are already painted black and are in the holiday area of Hobby Lobby) but you can also use white houses and spray paint them black. I included links to these as well.
• Timer lights to use with houses that don’t have lights inside of them. Just add one of these lights and set the timer so your houses will light up!

I love that these supplies are so accessible, and you might already have some of them on hand from other DIY projects.

Make It Spooky!

The first step in making your gingerbread village spooky is switching up the classic color palette. Instead of painting the houses brown, we’re going for a dark, eerie look by painting them black. If you’re lucky enough to find houses that are already black (like the ones I used from Hobby Lobby), you can skip this step! But if you’re starting with white or unpainted houses, simply give them a couple coats of black spray paint.

Next comes the fun part—adding spooky details! After your houses are painted and dried, grab your white paint pen and start outlining the gingerbread designs just like you would on a traditional gingerbread house. You can add rooftops, windows, and even faux frosting swirls. To make things extra spooky, think about including little elements like spider webs, tiny ghosts, or gravestones in your design. You can also attach small plastic spiders, skulls, or other eerie embellishments to your houses for added creepiness. Let your imagination run wild—this village is meant to be haunted!

Using a Paint Pen for Fine Details

For creating detailed lines and intricate patterns on your gingerbread houses, I love using a paint pen. Paint pens are fantastic because they allow you to have a lot more control than a traditional paintbrush, especially when working with smaller surfaces like the tiny windows or intricate details of the houses. They come in a variety of widths, from fine to thick, so you can choose the one that works best for your project. For my spooky gingerbread village, I used a fine-tip paint pen to get those crisp, clean lines that make the white stand out against the black background. Aand don’t worry if your lines are not straight, imperfections show that this is handmade!

If you’re new to paint pens, they’re super easy to use! Just give them a shake, press the tip to get the paint flowing, and start outlining. Don’t worry if your lines aren’t perfect—it adds to the whimsical, homemade feel of the village.

How to Fix Mistakes

Mistakes happen! But don’t worry, if you mess up a line or accidentally smudge the paint, it’s easy to fix. While the paint is still fresh, grab a damp paper towel and gently wipe away the paint where you made the mistake. You can start over without much hassle. The great thing about this project is that imperfections can add to the spooky, hand-made charm. And since you’re working with a white paint pen over black paint, any slip-ups can be quickly corrected. Just make sure you’re patient and allow your design to dry before handling the houses again.

Built-in Lights with Timers!

One of my favorite features of these black village houses is that they come with built-in lights! Even better, they have a built-in timer. You can turn them on using the “timer” setting, and the lights will stay on for six hours before automatically shutting off. Every night, your spooky gingerbread village will light up, casting an eerie glow that’s perfect for Halloween nights. You don’t even have to remember to turn them off—how easy is that?

If you’re buying similar houses that don’t come with built-in lights, you can still create a similar effect by placing battery-operated tea lights inside or even small string lights to illuminate the village. I’ve included these in the supplies as well.

Add Your Own Spooky Touches

Once your gingerbread houses are all decorated, you can place them together to create a whole spooky village scene! To make your village even more Halloween-ready, consider adding some creepy accessories. You could place small fake cobwebs across the rooftops, tuck in tiny ghost figurines, or even add mini gravestones around the houses for that ultimate haunted look. Little plastic spiders or bats would also look fantastic hanging from the edges of the roofs or resting on the windowsills.

Feel free to personalize your village to match your style—whether you want something more whimsical or eerie, the choice is yours!

DIY Halloween Bat Branch Centerpiece

Halloween is one of the best times of year to get creative with your decor. The best part? It doesn’t have to cost a fortune! In fact, this DIY Bat Branch Centerpiece is almost free! You can make a spooky yet stylish Halloween centerpiece using items you likely already have at home: like a container, branches, and ribbon. All you need to complete the look are some inexpensive PVC bats, and you’re set. If you don’t have access to natural branches, I’ve linked some faux willow branches in the supplies section at the end of this post. Let’s dive into how you can create this simple but eye-catching Halloween decoration that will instantly elevate your spooky setup!

Gather Bat Branch Centerpiece Supplies

Before you begin, gather the following items:

• A large container or vase
• Branches (from your yard)
• Faux Branches (If you don’t have access to real ones)
• PVC bats
• Ribbon (optional for an added decorative touch)

Other Items Used in the Centerpiece

• Wooden Bat Decor
• Plaid Pumpkin
• Pumpkin Bat Stakes
• Crows
• Crow runner

If you have a yard with plenty of trees, you can easily collect some fallen branches for free! If not, consider walking around your neighborhood to scavenge a few good ones. And if you prefer to go faux, I’ve linked some realistic-looking faux willow branches that work perfectly for this project.

The PVC bats I used come in a package of 200, with three different sizes. These bats are ideal for decorating because they add a dynamic, layered look to your centerpiece, and they come with small adhesive strips that make attaching them to the branches (and walls!) a breeze. I had plenty left over, so I used them in other areas of my Halloween decor as well.

Secure the Branches in the Container

To ensure your branches stay in place and your centerpiece looks polished, start by cutting a piece of floral foam to fit snugly in the bottom of your container. The foam will act as a sturdy base for your branches. Once the foam is in place, insert the branches firmly into it, spacing them out to create a balanced arrangement. To give extra support, pack some plastic bags or crumpled paper around the branches inside the container. This will help hold the branches upright and prevent them from shifting. Finally, cover the plastic bags with decorative rocks, moss, or even faux spiderwebs to hide the base and add a finished, spooky touch.

Prepare Your Branches

Once you have your branches, start by giving them a quick wipe-down to remove any dirt or debris. The natural texture of the branches adds a rustic, eerie charm. But if you prefer a cleaner look, the faux willow branches work just as well and require no preparation.

Next, arrange the branches inside your container or vase. You want to aim for height and volume here, so don’t be shy about using plenty of branches to create a full, dramatic look. If your branches are too long for your container, you can always trim them down to size. Position the branches so they fan out in different directions, This gives your bats plenty of space to “fly” once you add them.

Attach the PVC Bats

Now comes the fun part—adding the bats! Start by attaching the larger bats to the lower parts of the branches. This will create a more realistic effect, as it mimics how bats might look in real life, hanging lower and appearing larger as they get closer. The smaller bats can be placed near the top of the branches to give the illusion that they are flying upwards.

The PVC bats come with small adhesive strips, making them super easy to attach. Simply peel off the backing and stick them onto the branches. The adhesive is gentle enough that you can reposition the bats if needed without damaging the branches or the bats themselves. You can add as many or as few bats as you like, depending on how spooky you want your centerpiece to look. For a more minimalistic vibe, stick to a handful of bats, or go all out and cover the branches entirely for a dramatic Halloween statement piece.

Add Ribbon for Extra Flair (Optional)

If you want to take your bat branch centerpiece to the next level, consider adding some decorative ribbon to the base of your arrangement. You can choose ribbon in Halloween colors like black, orange, or even metallics like silver or gold for a little extra shimmer. Tie the ribbon around the vase or container, making sure it complements the rest of your Halloween decor. This simple touch can make the arrangement feel more polished and festive.

Extra Bat Decor Ideas

Once you’re happy with your bat branch centerpiece, you might find that you still have some leftover bats. These versatile PVC bats can be used in a variety of ways to extend your Halloween decor theme throughout your space. I decided to add some to a mirror at the end of the room for a cohesive look. You can also attach bats to your walls, picture frames, or even your ceiling to create the illusion of bats flying through your home.

If you have extra bats to spare, don’t stop there! I added some to our mantel and even our front porch door for a seamless Halloween theme that ties the entire home together. The adhesive strips make it easy to attach the bats to different surfaces, so feel free to get creative with where you place them.

Hi friends! It was so fun creating this “The Great Pumpkin” porch last weekend. I love Halloween and I always decorate a special porch for the holiday. I usually decorate a “themed” Halloween porch. In the past I have shared a “welcome my pretties” porch, “colorful Halloween”, “Witching Hour” Porch, “skeleton” porch and a “bat” porch! This year I went with a “great pumpkin” porch! Every year as a child I remember watching Charlie Brown’s The Great Pumpkin and that’s when I knew it was Halloween!

This is my favorite metallic spray paint. There are a few different finishes in this line — gold, silver and copper. The thing I love about this spray paint is that there are tiny bits of glittered in the paint. As you are spray painting, you can see the flakes sparkle and the finish is so rich and beautiful! I wanted to use this spray paint color because I knew it would match our porch lights!

I loved the idea of having pumpkins magically hanging in the air. $1 pumpkin pails were perfect. I spray painted the pails with the same copper spray paint.

I used cup hooks and screwed them into the porch ceiling. The pumpkins are hanging at different heights in two rows in front of the door.

DIY Disco Ball Halloween Art

There are THREE things about me: I love Halloween, I love PINK and I love disco balls! My new Groovy Darlin’ line of paper has the most adorable disco balls. PINK disco ball art for spooky season. My new Jen Hadfield Groovy Darlin’ line of paper and a few of the embellishments were perfect to create some disco-themed Halloween art. I made three different framed art pieces. The frame are very affordable and come in a 4-pack. Below, you’ll find detailed instructions for each one. Let’s get crafting!

Art #1: Giant Disco Ball Pumpkin

Supplies:

• Jen Hadfield Groovy Darlin’ scrapbook paper with the giant disco ball
• Black cardstock
• 3-dimensional dots
• Quick dry tacky glue
• 8×10 white frame
• Scissors

Creating the Giant Disco Ball Pumpkin

One of the papers in my Groovy Darlin’ line has a giant disco ball. To give it a Halloween twist, I transformed it into a pumpkin shape. Start by cutting the ball down to be more of an oval shape, trimming the top and bottom. This will give it that perfect pumpkin look.

Adding Sparkles

Next, cut the sparkles out of the paper and use 3-dimensional dots to make the sparkles stand up, adding some fun texture to your art.

Framing Your Art

I framed all of the art pieces with matching 8×10 white frames. The clean look of the white frame beautifully complements the vibrant disco ball pumpkin.

Art #2: Ghosts and Disco Balls

Supplies:

• Black cardstock
• Disco ball ephemera from the Groovy Darlin’ line
• Disco ball cardstock from the Groovy Darlin’ line
• Quick dry tacky glue
• Scissors
• Black pen
• 8×10 white frame

Creating the Ghost Art

For this piece, start with a black cardstock background. Using the disco ball ephemera from my Groovy Darlin’ line, cut out various sizes of disco balls from the cardstock.

Assembling the Art

Cut out a simple ghost shape and place it in the center of the paper. Arrange and layer the different sized disco balls around the ghost. This gives a playful yet spooky vibe. Finally, use a black pen to add eyes to the ghost. Secure everything in place with quick dry tacky glue.

Framing Your Art

Place your artwork in an 8×10 white frame to complete the look. The contrast of the black background with the white frame and the colorful disco balls is stunning.

Art #3: Trio of Ghosts with Flowers

Supplies:

• Mustard yellow butterfly paper from the Groovy Darlin’ line
• 3-dimensional flowers from the Thicker puffy ephemeras
• Quick dry tacky glue
• Scissors
• Black pen
• 8×10 white frame

Creating the Ghost Trio

Begin with the beautiful mustard yellow butterfly paper as the background. Cut out three ghost shapes from white cardstock. Place one ghost in the center and the other two on either side, framing the central ghost.

Adding Details

Glue the ghosts to the paper using tacky glue. Add eyes to each ghost with a black pen to bring them to life. Then, embellish the piece with 3-dimensional flowers from the Thicker puffy ephemeras, placing them around the ghosts to add a whimsical touch.

Framing Your Art

Finish by framing the art in an 8×10 white frame. The mustard yellow background paired with the white ghosts and colorful flowers creates a delightful Halloween piece.

Halloween Witches Broom Wreath

As the leaves turn crimson and the chill of autumn settles in, it’s time to conjure up some Halloween magic to transform your home into a bewitching haven for visitors. This year, we’re brewing up a delightful “witches theme” porch that is sure to cast a welcoming spell on all who dare to approach.

And at the heart of this enchanting decor is a whimsical and budget-friendly witches broom wreath, complete with battery-operated shimmering lights to guide your guests through the darkness. This creative hack draws inspiration from the now-unavailable Pottery Barn version, which retailed for a staggering $150. But fear not, for we’ve conjured up an alternative that won’t break the bank.

Every enchantress knows that a witches’ broom is a quintessential accessory. In our quest to recreate the Pottery Barn magic, we set out to find the perfect broom. Lo and behold, we stumbled upon a scented cinnamon broom at Trader Joe’s for a mere $6! Not only did it carry the delightful aroma of cinnamon, but it was also the ideal size to grace our front door.

Witches Broom Lights!

No enchantment is complete without a touch of luminance, especially during the mystical hours of Halloween night. To bring our witches broom to life, we sought out the perfect battery-operated fairy lights, which we discovered on Amazon.

These lights offered more than just illumination; they boasted a repertoire of eight different light settings, from static lights to a haunting flicker, strobe, and even a pulsating flash. Plus, they featured a convenient timer feature, allowing us to program them to illuminate our porch in the evening, magically extinguishing themselves during the day.

Crafting the Witches Broom Wreath

To bring our magical creation to life, you’ll need the following supplies:

1. Small twig broom
2. Battery-operated twinkle lights with multiple settings and timer!
3. A twist tie
4. Ribbon

Now, follow these mystical directions:

1. Position the battery pack discreetly at the back of the broom.
2. Secure it in place using a twist tie, ensuring it stays out of sight.
3. Gently run the twinkling lights up and down the bottom of the broom.
4. Begin twisting them around the handle of the broom, creating an enchanting glow.
5. To add a touch of charm, tie a ribbon at the top of the broom.
6. With bated breath, turn on the power switch and suspend your creation.
7. Use the accompanying remote control to select your desired light setting and timer option.

Favorite Things This Week – October

Hi friends! How was your week? Mine was super busy but good! After a year of classes and studying I took my real estate agent exam and passed both the state and national exams! I am so happy!

I’m so excited to help people find their dream homes and remodel home too. I am starting with a dream company this coming week. I might also be helping them with their staging arm of the company too. So I will have lots of remodeling, staging and I’ll be sharing amazing homes with you on my Instagram stories!

The 1905 duplex I am working on is also coming along! We are working on the kitchens right now. We are working with small units so it’s been a fun challenge to add modern features like new kitchens with dishwashers and figuring out how to include washer and dryer units in both sides. My friend Frank Smith built some amazing barn doors for both sides and we will be installing those this week. Here’s a little inspiration photo of what the kitchens will look like.

The duplex is going to be bright and beautiful with bright wallpaper and we matched the colors in the duplex with some amazing modern chairs. One side is going to have dark green accents and the other side will have mustard yellow accents. We are also adding the cutest wall-mounted sinks in those colors in the bathroom.

Embroidery Hoop Farmhouse Pumpkins

Is there anything better in the fall than pumpkins?? You can never have too many pumpkins – whether they are pumpkin-flavored food or pumpkins in your fall decor.

I love pretty paper. I have a line of paper and embellishments through Pebbles Inc. and designing papers and home decor is one of my greatest joys. One of passions is creating pretty home decor with paper! So it was fun to create these embroidery hoop farmhouse pumpkins!

How to Dye Your Embroidery Hoops

You can dye your embroidery hoops if you want. I didn’t include the dye on the supply list because you don’t have to do that. I used walnut stain on my hoops. To dye them all you need to do is take a ewt paper towel, dip it in the dye and wipe it on the embroidery hoops. Then take another wet paper towel and wipe off the excess dye.

Cut Out Paper

Place an embroidery hoop on top of the paper you want to use. Then trace around the outside of the hoop and cut it out.

Glue Paper on Back of Paper

Instead of putting the paper through the middle of the embroidery hoops, I glued it onto the back of the hoops. When you try to put paper through embroidery hoops it is so thick that it crinkles and won’t lay flat. I hot glued it onto the back of the hoops to create a very flat look.

Add A Pumpkin Stem

For the stems I used wood spools. On the smaller embroidery hoops I used wood buttons. You can also use a piece of wood like a branch. I also dyed the spools and beads with the same dye.

Tie Ribbon Around the Pumpkin Stem

For the final touch, I tied some ribbon around the pumpkin stems. I found ribbon that looks kind of like leaves and then I used regular ribbon too!

Layer Embroidery Hoop Pumpkins for a Fall Display

Four pumpkins in three different sized embroidery hoops. I layered them on a shelf and added some real pumpkins for a pretty touch. I love the way they look!
