Year-Round Interchangeable Wreath. Create a wreath you can leave up all year by switching out seasonal wood decorations!

Year-Round Interchangeable Wreath

I love creating wreaths. As someone that has limited storage space in our 1891 home, I thought creating a wreath that can be use all year would be a great idea! I teamed up with Hobby Lobby to share how to make this easy and practical wreath!

How to Make a Year-Round Interchangeable Wreath

I headed off to Hobby Lobby’s Wood Craft Department to find the main items for this wreath. Hobby Lobby has a wonderful selection of all kinds of Seasonal Wood Projects. There are many different kinds of pallets, signs, wood shapes, letters and more.

Pick Out a Neutral Wreath

Start with a neutral wrath that can be used all year with different kinds of seasonal elements. A green wreath or grapevine wreath is a good neutral wreath to use. The wreath I used is their Olive Wreath. I love the green fluffy branches, but you can use any wreath that you want!

Start with a Welcome Sign

Next I picked out a rectangular wreath from the wood craft department. This one is the Beaded Rectangular Sign. I didn’t use the beaded hanger but I did use some of the beads as an accent on the dragonfly I used for the Spring element.

Pick Out Wood Letters

Then I picked out the “H”, “M”, and “E” for the “HOME” detail on the sign. The “O” is going to be filled in with the seasonal wood decorations. I will share how to create those in a moment.

Decide Which Seasons or Holidays You Want to Display

Now is the fun part! There are many different wood die cuts and shapes that you can use to display the different seasons or holidays for your sign. I decided to create a summer flower, wood pumpkin for fall, an angel for Christmas, heart for Valentine’s Day, dragonfly for Spring and Star for Fourth of July. But there are literally dozens and dozens of different shapes you can use!

Grab Paint for Your Wood Decorations

Look at your wood decorations and decide what colors you want to paint them. I chose yellow for my flower, orange for the pumpkin, white for my angel, light pink for the heart, periwinkle blue for the dragonfly and red white and blue for the star. Black glossy paint for the letters and border of the sign and white for the inside of the frame.

Pick Out Some Coordinating Ribbon

Now that you have your die cut wood shapes picked out, you can grab some coordinating ribbon. I also used some greenery ribbon for the angel’s wreath and around the pumpkin stem. Hobby Lobby’s ribbon department is one of my favorite elements of the store. And ribbon goes on sale every other week so I stock up when it is on sale!

Paint the Frame

I painted the frame white and then used a small brush to paint the edges black.

Paint the Seasonal Decorations

While the frame dried, I painted the decorations. Here’s a run down of how I created each of the decorations:

Summer Flower

• Flower wood die cut, Yellow Paint, White Felted Pom Pom.

Fall Pumpkin

• Wood Branch Disc, Orange Paint, Wood Bead, leaf ribbon.

Christmas Angel

• Angel Wood Die Cut, White Paint, Wreath (made out of leaf ribbon).

Valentine Heart

• Heart Wood Die Cut, Pink Paint, Gold Scrapbook Letters.

Spring Dragonfly

• Dragonfly Wood Die Cut, Purple Paint, Wood Beads (from the hanger on the sign), Yellow Paint.

Fourth Of July Star

• Three Different Stars, Red White and Blue Paint.

Attach the Painted Letters to the Sign

Now you will glue the letters on the painted sign. Find the largest wood seasonal element and lay that on the board so you know how far to space the “H” and “M” with the space in the middle for the painted wood elements. Then glue the letters on the sign.

How to Attach the Elements to the Board

I used command strips to hold the elements to the sign. I glued a strip to the center of the space between the “H” and “M” letters. You can use a dab of glue to make sure the command strip is attached to the board securely. Then attach a command strip the back of each wood element. You can cut down the command strips so that they are hidden behind the wood elements.

Add Welcome At the Top

You can hand draw “welcome to our” at the top or use foam scrapbook letters like I did. So easy!

Attach the Wood Sign to the Wreath

I used hot glue to glue a wire to the underside of each side of the sign. Then I placed the sign on top of the wreath where I wanted it to lay and wrapped the wire around each side of the wreath.

Enjoy Your Sign ALL Year Round!

Now you can hang up your wreath and enjoy it ALL year. It’s so nice to have ONE wreath that I can change out each season and for holidays! I keep all of the ribbon and wood holiday wreath decorations in a little box so I can find them all easily!

Easy 3-Ingredient Body Polish Scrub

I love a handmade gift and one that is practical and pretty is even better! My most popular post on tatertots and jello right now is my 3-Ingredient Sugar Scrub. My daughters love to make it and it’s even more fun because you can customize it by adding whatever scent you want! I experimented with the recipe and developed a slightly more elevated body polish recipe that is just as easy to make!

3-Ingredient is All You Need

There are only THREE ingredients needed to make this body polish. It’s true!! Sugar, coconut oil and rose essential oil are all you need. Then pour this mixture into a pretty container and add the free printable label and you have a wonderful gift idea that looks very expensive. You’ll be a star when your friends or family finds out you MADE it!!

What’s The Difference Between Body Scrub and Body Polish?

I’ll let you in a little secret. The ingredients in body scrub and body polish are EXACTLY the same. The difference is in how you create body polish. In my 3-Ingredient Sugar Scrub, you scoop out coconut oil in it’s dry form which is how you buy it. This makes a really clumpy mixture and it goes onto the skin much thicker. In the Body Polish form, you take the coconut oil and melt it so it is completely liquid. Then add the sugar and scent. The mixture is very wet and smooth. Once it dries it does become a dry form but it dries in small granules. So when you scoop it out it comes out in a more sugary consistency and goes into your skin in a not as thick layer. The sugar still exfoliates but the coconut oil is not as thick so it has a less sticky feeling when you are done.

How Do You Use Body Polish?

You use body polish in the same way as you use body scrub. I keep mine in my shower. Then I scoop about a teaspoon size amount of body polish out of the container, add a little water from the shower and rub it onto my body. The sugar exfoliates your skin and the coconut oil moisturizes. Rubbing the mixture into your skin helps with skin circulation and you will see a nice glow when you are done. I love it!

Body Polish is Perfect for Summer

I use sugar scrub and body polish all year round. They are especially great to use in the summer. In Utah it’s especially dry so using these really keeps my skin soft and hydrated.

Pair Body Polish with Handmade Body Butter

I shared a handmade body butter recipe yesterday. These two gift ideas are perfectly paired. I used the body polish in the shower to exfoliate and then add a dime-sized amount of body butter when I get out. The body butter is so smooth and it gives my legs a nice sheen that looks so pretty when I am wearing a dress. I also smooth body butter onto my hands and feet and it helps them not crack in the dry summer heat.

These two handmade ideas are perfect to give as gifts any time of the year. Make some for the moms in your life and as gifts for teachers, neighbors and friends. You can also make up a big batch to give out during the year for birthdays!

Homemade Body Polish Scrub + Free Labels

Easy 3-Ingredient Body Polish Scrub. Moisturize and exfoliate dry dull skin with this handmade body polish and free printable labels!

Course body polish, body scrub, gift idea, sugar scrub

Ingredients

• 2 cups Coconut Oil
• 3 cups Sugar
• 25-30 drops Rose Essential Oil
• 5 drops Coloring (optional) soap or lotion grade (see post for links)

Instructions

• Put coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl.
• Microwave coconut oil 1-2 minutes, until completely liquid and no clumps.
• Add 3 cups of sugar to liquid coconut oil. Stir.
• Add essential oil and coloring is optional.
• Stir until everything is completely incorporated. It should be a very wet mixture.
• Put mixture in one large bottle or several smaller bottles. This should make approximately 16 ounces of body polish.
• Add label (link to label is in the post)
• Gift or use it yourself. Pair with Homemade Body Butter. The recipe for that is in the post.

DIY eso Holiday Gnome Craft

What’s YOUR favorite Christmas movie? We always watch ELF at least once a year! I thought it would be fun to take eos lip balm and turn them into gnomes/elves as a fun holiday craft and gift idea!

Lip Balm Gnomes is a Fun Teen Craft

My girls and I have been using eos lip balms for YEARS. We always have at least one in our purses. As a mom with tweens and teens I can tell you that coming up with friend gift ideas can be tricky. So we thought it would be SO fun to create a holiday gift idea that incorporates eos lip balms and create a KIT that we can give. What’s more fun than a holiday craft night? I think my girls would love it. I created a kit so the girls and I can make them together!

Lia Griffith created some gnomes using pine cones and I thought the concept would be perfect to use with eos lip balms as the gnome’s base. Then we just add a wood ball for the head and felt for the gnome’s scarf, hat, mittens and shoes.

Lip Balm Gnomes and Holiday Decoration

Aren’t these gnomes just the cutest thing ever?? And I love that they are useful gifts too. You can still unscrew the bottom of the eos lip balm and use it PLUS it can sit on your kitchen counter or bathroom shelf and it’s adorable too!

Make Gnome Kits to Give as Gifts!

So I created some DIY Gnome Craft Kits. Make a few up and give them out this holiday season. EVERYONE will love making these adorable Holiday Felt Gnomes with eos lip balms inside!

Here’s how to make these eos Gnome Lip Balm Craft Kits:

eos Gnome Kit Supplies:

• Box, tissue paper and cute bow/bells or other embellishments
• Tags – one for the front of the box, 1-2 other tags if you want to include treats inside. I included cinnamon Santas and chocolate covered pretzel trees. Because – everyone needs some yummy treats while crafting with friends, don’t you think?
• eos lip balms.
• Felt for the scarf, mittens, hat and shoes.
• The pattern for the hat, mittens, scarf and shoes. I included the template here. You can either print out the template and include it in the box, OR cut each one out and label it and lay them on top of the felt pieces inside the box.
• Tiny bells for the top of the hats (optional)
• 1.5″ wooden balls.
• A sharpie pen
• The directions below. Just print it out and cut out the steps and include it in the kit.

eos Gnome Lip Balm Directions:

• Cut out the felt pieces for each eos gnome. Each gnome needs 1 hat, 2 mittens, 1 scarf and shoes. Get the pattern here. When printing, look at the settings, put the scale at 110% and turn off the margins.

• Place each eos lip balm on a flat surface. Hot glue the shoes onto the bottom of the lip balm.
• Then hot glue the wooden ball head on top of the eos lip balm.
• Fold each hat in half and add a strip of hot glue to one side of the hat, press it against the other seam of the hat.
• Put a dot of hot glue inside the rim of the hat, one on the front and one on the back. Put the hat on top of the wood ball and press the area that has hot glue onto the wood ball, attaching the hat to the gnome’s head.
• Wrap the felt scarf around the neck of the gnome. Tie a knot and pull both ends of the scarf down. You might have to trim the scarf a little so it isn’t too long. Once trimmed, add a little fringe to each scarf by cutting small cuts on each end of the scarf.
• Add a mitten on each side of the gnome, right under the bottom of the scarf.
• Use the sharpie to make small eyes right under the bottom of the hat and a nose in the middle of the eyes.

Create the eos Gnome craft kit:

• Take the box, lay all of the pieces of felt in one corner of the box, put the patterns on top of the felt.
• Put the wooden balls and jingle bells together in one corner of the box. You can also put these in a small zip lock baggie.
• Fold up directions and put that in the box.
• Also add the sharpie pen.
• You can add treats too if you want.
• Tie the box with ribbon, bells and a tag or card.

I used eos holiday collections to make these gnomes, but you can use any eos lip balms!

They smell SO good!! I can’t wait to give our craft kits out!

3-Ingredient Candy Cane Sugar Scrub

One of my most popular posts is my 3-Ingredient Sugar Scrub. I’s so popular because DIY sugar scrub is so easy and fast to make, plus it makes a wonderful gift! In that post I used lemon oil and it does smell heavenly. So I thought it would be fun to make a holiday sugar scrub recipe and what’s better during the holidays than the small of candy canes?

The Benefits of Peppermint Oil

I used peppermint oil in this recipe. Peppermint is a great oil to use in sugar scrubs because it has a lot of health benefits. For example, peppermint oil is used to relieve headaches and body aches and pains. Plus it relaxes muscles and has a cooling effect. Plus it smells so good! I used Young LIving essential oil in this recipe, but I have linked a peppermint oil that’s not associated with MLMs too.

Three Ingredient Sugar Scrub

As I mentioned before you only need THREE ingredients to make this gift idea! So grab sugar, coconut oil and an oil and let’s get started! I did add red sugar to his recipe to give it a candy cane effect so you can do that but you don’t have to. Another idea is crushing up candy canes and added those to scrub. I do advise that if you crush candy canes that you make sure the pieces are very crushed so they wouldn’t cut anyone’s skin as they are scrubbing.

How Do You Use Sugar Scrub?

If you have never used sugar scrub, you are in for a treat! You only need a small amount of scrub. I put directions in the printable tag – but basically you take 1 Tablespoon and rub it between your hands, warming up the coconut oil in the scrub. Then rub it on your face and/or body. Massage it into the skin. The sugar exfoliates dead skin cells. The coconut oil moisturizes skin and the peppermint soothes and smells so good! It will keep your skin moisturized all year round. My kids love making it and using it too!

Making Sugar Scrub is a Fun Teen Craft

Kids of any age can make sugar scrub. It’s a fun neighbor gift idea or teacher gift! Pair it with a gift card and your teacher will be thrilled. You can even have your child ask their teacher what their favorite smell is and use an oil that is that fragrance. Lavender is another smell that is great as a scrub because of the calming attributes of lavender.

Candy Cane Sugar Scrub

Prep Time 5 minutes minutes

Ingredients

• 1 cup coconut oil
• 3 cups sugar
• 15-20 drops peppermint essential oil

Instructions

• In a large bowl, add coconut oil. There are a few different consistencies of coconut oil. If your coconut oil is hard, you can microwave it until it gets softer.- that makes it easier to combine into the sugar.
• Next add sugar and stir together until combined. You can add more coconut oil if it's too dry or more sugar if it seems to wet. It should be a grainy consistency.
• Add essential oil and stir.
• Add a little red sugar or 1 finely crushed candy cane (optional)
• Scoop into lidded containers. This recipe makes about 10 ounces. You can double or triple the recipe if you are making these as gifts.

Three Ingredient Challenge

I’ve teamed up with some creative blogging friends to create a Valentine’s Day idea using three basic ingredients — paper, ribbon and washi tape.

We all came up with our own take on the challenge and I LOVE all of the different ideas!

Simple Valentine’s Day Gifts

I host a little dinner for my kids each Valentine’s Day! We eat food they like — pizza or curry and spend time together! It’s one of my favorite things to do. I always set a cute table and have a little favor on their plate. This year I created a simple gift with colorful paper. The paper is from Pebbles new Valentine’s Day line. I used some paper with pretty foil on it. And they have a fun llama paper – my daughter loves lambs and llamas so I used that paper for her gift!

I thought it would be fun to add a little saying to the front of each bag. I created a simple typewriter printable sentiment sheet with easy valentine’s day words and sayings.

Large and Small Typewriter Printable Sentiment Sizes

I created two different sizes of fonts for the printable sentiment sheets. Depending on the size of the gift you are giving you can print off the large OR the small sheets.

Create Simple Paper Bag Gifts

Supplies:

Scrapbook Paper

Small Gift Bags or Boxes

Ribbon

Washi Tape

Adhesive

Printable Typewriter Saying Sheet (you can grab them by right-clicking on the links at the bottom of the page)

Tissue Paper

Directions:

1. Trim the scrapbook paper to the size of the front of your bags or boxes
2. Use adhesive to attach the paper to the front of the bags of boxes
3. Cut out the printable typewriter sayings you want to use.
4. Use washi tape to attach the sayings onto the front of your gifts.
5. Tie some ribbon around the box or the handles of the gift bags.
6. Add some tissue paper to your bags.

Paper Flower Gift Basket for Spring or Easter

I love giving my friends and family small gifts to let them know I am thinking of them; this is so important, especially now!

Two Sizes of Flower Baskets

The thing I love about this idea is you can make baskets in whatever size you want. I used a 12×12 sheet of paper to create the larger basket. For the smaller basket I cut a 12×12 paper in quarters and used one of the 4×4 sheets to make the smaller basket. All you need is a square piece of paper to make a basket.

Small Flower Gift Basket Makes a Pretty Addition to a Spring Table

The smaller size basket is perfect to put on a plate with a small succulent or cupcake inside! You can add this little addition to a Spring or Easter table and it will look SO cute.

Create a Larger Flower Basket as a Spring Centerpiece

The larger gift basket would make an amazing Spring Centerpiece! Fill it with flowers or fruit and make smaller baskets to put on each person’s plate. How cute would that be?

The Directions are the Same for Any Size Basket Flower

Make whatever size basket using these directions. The paper just needs to be square on all sides.

Paper Flower Basket Supplies

Paper (large basket = 2 sheets of 12×12. smaller basket = 1/2 sheet 12×12 paper)

Hot glue and glue gun or regular school glue

Directions to Make Paper Flower Baskets

1. Fold paper in half.
2. Now fold paper in half again (it is now folded in four parts)
3. Then fold paper in a triangle shape. Important — make sure you fold the paper so that all straight edges are together.
4. Cut an arch at the top of the paper. When unfolded it will be heart-shaped.
5. Unfold the paper and it is flower-shaped.
6. Refold paper and fold the pointed edge into the center of the shape.
7. Unfold and fold the pointed edge on the other side too. You are make a line so folding it both ways will make the line more pronounced.
8. Unfold the paper and it looks like a flower with lines in the middle. This middle section is the bottom of the basket.
9. Use scissors to cut a line from the middle of the petals to the line on each section (there are 8 sections)
10. Fold each petal toward the center of the flower.
11. Use a hot glue gun or regular glue to glue the petals together. Run a line of glue on the straight, cut edge of each petal, overlapping petals to create the sides of the flower basket.
12. Now your basket is done. You can add handles and be finished or you can add outer petals.
13. Use the second sheet of paper and cut it in half diagonally. Make two more cuts for handles.
14. Print out Petal Templates.
15. Use the rest of the sheet to cut out 8 petals. You can use the template and trace the petals from the template onto the scrapbook paper if you want.
16. Fold the bottom of the petals down at the very bottom.
17. Add a dab of hot glue or regular glue to attach the bottom of each petal to the bottom of the basket. Attach each outer petal in the middle of the inside petals for a more pleasing look.
18. Optional – flip basket over and add a circle of paper to the bottom of the basket to reinforce it.
19. Now Lay the two long handle pieces and attach them together with a dab or hot glue or regular glue at the center.
20. Attach the handle to each side of the basket with glue.
21. Use glue to secure the outer petals at the bottom
22. Fill your basket and enjoy!

Paper Flower Petal Templates

I created a template that corresponds with the large and small baskets. Now just print the template off on card stock or print it off on printer paper and trace around the template onto cardboard., Then trace the template onto your scrapbook paper. Easy!

Have you ever needed a gift bag quickly and didn’t have one on hand? You can make your own custom gift bags in 5 minutes!

Customize Your Gift Bags for Special Parties or Events

You can customize your gift bags for any type of party, occasion or special event by choosing a scrapbook paper that goes with your party color or theme and it’s so easy.

Another cool thing is that you can make your gift bag in different sizes. You choose the length and width of your gift bag. The gift bags I made above are small and you can make TWO gift bags out of ONE sheet of paper!

Gift Bags are Cute as Place Settings

Gift bags filled with goodies make a cute place setting on a plate for special occasions like Easter, Christmas and holiday dinners. Just add a tag and a name and you have a party favor AND a place card!

How to Use the We R Memory Keeper Gift Bag Punch Board

The trick to making these gift bags is a really fun tool that I recently tried out. It’s the Gift Bag Punch Board by Re R Memory Keepers. It’s a small board that has a little compartment for a scoring knife. It also has measurements built in to help you make all sizes of gift bags.

Small and Easy to Store

The gift card punch board also has two punches built into it. One makes notches that fold at the bottom of the gift bag, creating the bottom of the gift bag. On the other side of the punch board is a round hold punch which allows you to punch the top of the gift bag at the correct intervals so you can string twine or ribbon through the holes!!

The punch board is small and easy to store. I have a bin a the bottom of my Dream Box where I keep all of my tools like this one. I have a few of the different We R Memory Keeper tools and I love how well they are thought out. They really save you time.

How to Make a Custom Gift Bag Out of a Sheet of Scrapbook Paper

Heart of Home Collection at JoAnn Stores!

I used papers and embellishments from my Heart of Home collection which is NOW in JoAnn Stores!! I am so excited about this!!!

Make a gift bag. I looked online at some different YouTube tutorials and found them a little confusing. So hopefully this tutorial will be easier to understand. There are two different sides you are creating when making the gift bags. The front and back sides are wider and have no scoring in the middle. The sides are narrower and have a score in the center and a triangle at the top. This is so they can fold inward. So don’t score all sides of the box.

Decide how Big you Want your Gift Bag to be

The biggest size in length will be 12 inches. There are three sizes of widths you can choose from. Small = 10 inches ,medium = 11 inches, and large = 12 inches. Since 12″ is the biggest size that scrapbook paper is usually sold in, that makes sense. Cut your paper to the size you want.

Line Up Your Paper

Line up your paper with the longer length going horizontally. The edge of the longer horizontal side will line up against the yellow line. Push the paper all the way under the punch until it is flush against the back of the punchboard.

Punch the Paper

Then take the scoring knife and score the paper at the line that is the size you are making your gift bag. So if your paper is 10″ long, that is a size SMALL and you score at the “S” line. Also score at the top top of the punchboard. You will score the entire paper at that line.

Move the Paper to the Yellow Line

Line up the line you just scored and line it up at the yellow line. Punch at that line. This is the side of the gift bag. This side you score in the middle. You also score around the triangle shape at the top and at the top of the punchboard. The last thing on this side is you score on the line that says “SIDE” instead of the SMALL line. This is because this is the side of the bag and it is narrower than the front and back.

Slide the Paper

Move the paper to the last scored line (the one that said “SIDE”). Punch at the top. This is the back of your gift bag. Score along the top and then score again at the “SMALL” line.

Move the Paper to the Yellow Line

Slide the paper over to line up the last scored line, which was where you scored at the “SMALL” line with the yellow line. Punch it, score along the top and score the triangle and the middle. This is the other side and it is narrower. Score on the other side at the “SIDE” line.

Slide the Paper Over

Move the paper and line up the edge of the paper and punch. This is the tab that holds the back of the gift bag to the front. Once you you punch it, you can cut off the top and bottom and create the tab.

Hole Punch the Top of the Gift Bag

If you turn the Gift Bag Punch Board upside down, there is a round punch on that side. All you have to do is line up the score lines that you created and punch on those lines. DO NOT punch on the lines that are on the sides and go up to the triangle. If you con’t want to string your twine through all of the holes and want a different look, you can punch the front and back together in the middle and loop ribbon through those holes.

Glue the Gift Bag Together

Glue side tab to the back of the front panel. Then glue the bottom tabs together. Let sit for a few minutes.

Add Ribbon

Run your ribbon or twine through the holes in the gift bag and tie in a bow.

Fresh Flowers are a wonderful gift no matter the occasion — for a birthday, a hostess gift, a condolence gift, a congratulatory gift. Everyone loves fresh flowers.

Fresh flowers and beautiful no matter if they are from your garden, a florists or even from your grocery store.

What Supplies Do You Need to Gift Wrap Fresh Flowers with Scrapbook Paper

• Scrapbook paper (I used my new Along The Way line)
• saran wrap
• wet paper towel
• Scissors
• Bouquet of flowers
• Ribbon or raffia
•  Glue Dots

How Do You Wrap Fresh Flowers in Paper to Make a Bouquet

It takes literally one minute to transform grocery store flowers into a beautiful gift! Here’s how:

Pick Out Paper

I used my new Along The Way Paper. This paper is 12 inches x 12 inches.

Prepare the Paper

Lay the paper out. Then add a strip of plastic Wrap.

Add a Wet Paper Towel

Add a wet paper towel in the center of the plastic wrap

Lay your Flowers On Top

Put the stems of the flowers on top of the wet paper towel. You might have to trim the stems to get them the right length.

Wrap the Stems

Wrap the plastic wrap up around the stems. Then fold the sides to enclose the stems. Secure with tape or a glue dot.

Arrange the Flowers

Place the stems of the flowers a little off-center in the lower left corner of the paper

Pull the Paper Up from the Edge

Pull the edge of paper up to the center of the flower stems

Wrap the Other Side

Wrap the Other Side of the Paper from the left to the right-side.

Pull the right-side of the paper around to the lef-side of the stems. Secure with a glue dot or tape.

Tie Ribbon

Tie the ribbon to secure the bouquet.

Now go brighten someone’s day!

Don’t wait for a special occasion – brighten someone’s day. It takes very little effort, money or time to make someone’s day!
