$30 Ceramic Candle Wall Sconces That Look Like Designer Lighting

One of my favorite things about fall isn’t the pumpkins or the changing leaves.

It’s the way our homes begin to glow again.

As the evenings get shorter, I find myself turning on lamps a little earlier, lighting candles while I make dinner, and creating those little pockets of warmth that make home feel extra cozy. I’ve always believed lighting is one of the easiest ways to change the feeling of a room, which is why I’ve wanted candle wall sconces throughout my 1932 Tudor since I found it.

The only problem?

My home still has its original lathe and plaster walls.

When I talked to my electrician about installing hardwired sconces, he explained that it would mean opening the walls, running electrical, repairing plaster, repainting, and paying for all of that labor. I knew it would be expensive before I even started shopping for fixtures.

Then I found the sconces I thought I wanted.

They were beautiful ceramic sconces with scalloped edges…and they were almost $500 each.

By the time I added the cost of two sconces, an electrician and repair work, I knew I needed another plan.

That’s when I stumbled across these ceramic candle wall sconces.

They’re only $30 each, and honestly? I like them even better.

Why I Fell in Love with These Ceramic Candle Wall Sconces

When the box arrived, I wasn’t expecting much.

For $30, I assumed they’d be lightweight and feel like a budget find.

I couldn’t have been more wrong.

The first thing I noticed was how substantial they are. They’re made from heavy ceramic with a beautiful glossy finish that reflects candlelight in the prettiest way. The scalloped edge and beaded detailing give them so much character, and they’re much larger than I expected at almost 15 inches tall.

Sometimes you open a package and immediately know you’ve found something special.

That was exactly how I felt.

They Look Like They Belong in My 1932 Tudor

Whenever I’m decorating my home, I always ask myself one question:

“Does this look like it belongs here?”

I don’t love filling my home with trendy pieces that I’ll be tired of next year.

I’d much rather buy something classic that feels like it could have been part of the house all along.

These ceramic candle wall sconces have that timeless feeling.

They’re simple.

Elegant.

Classic.

They don’t compete with the original character of my home—they complement it.

I hung two on either side of the mirror in my dining room, and the room instantly felt warmer and more finished.

The Secret Is the Battery-Operated Taper Candles

The sconces are beautiful on their own.

But the real magic happens when you add the candles.

Instead of using real taper candles, I found the prettiest battery-operated taper candles.

They have a warm brown wax finish that looks so beautiful against the creamy white ceramic.

The fluted sides give them a vintage look, and the flickering flame is incredibly realistic.

Most people assume they’re real candles until I pick up the remote.

And yes…

They come with a remote!

My Favorite Feature of Tese Remote-Control Candles Is the Remote

I simply grab the remote, turn them on, and the room instantly feels cozy.

The brightness is adjustable, so I can create a soft glow while we’re eating dinner or brighten them up a little if friends come over.

They also have built-in timers, so I can set them for two, four, or six hours.

They turn themselves off automatically, which saves battery life and means I never have to remember before going to bed.

It’s one of those little luxuries that makes everyday life just a little easier.

The Sconces Were So Easy to Hang

One of the biggest reasons I chose candle sconces instead of hardwired lighting was how simple they were to install.

No electrician.

No wiring.

No holes cut into my original plaster walls.

I used my favorite picture hangers instead of large wall anchors, and they were up in just a few minutes.

I Loved These Ceramic Sconces So Much I Ordered 8 More!

Originally, I only ordered two.

I wanted to make sure I loved them before buying more.

That lasted about a day.

After hanging them in the dining room, I kept walking back into the room just to look at them.

That evening, after dinner, I turned on the candles, sat down with a cup of tea, and realized how much the soft glow changed the feeling of the room.

Before I went to bed, I’d already ordered eight more.

Now I’m trying to decide where they’ll go next.

The hallway?

Our bedroom?

The living room?

Honestly…I want them everywhere.

Why I Love Layered Lighting

If there’s one decorating lesson I’ve learned over the years, it’s this:

Lighting changes everything.

When a room feels cozy, it’s usually because there are several different light sources instead of one bright overhead light.

I love mixing lamps, candles, picture lights, and candle sconces throughout my home.

The result feels softer.

Warmer.

More inviting.

Especially during fall and winter, I reach for cozy lighting long before I start decorating with pumpkins or garlands.

A simple glow can completely change the mood of a room.

Rechargeable Batteries Make The Sconces Even Better

One little tip before you order the candles…

I always use rechargeable batteries.

I’ve used them for years in twinkle lights, flameless candles, and seasonal décor.

They’re less wasteful, save money over time, and I always have a charged set ready to go.

These Ceramic Sconces are One of My Favorite Decorating Finds This Year!

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become much more intentional about what I bring into my home.

I don’t want more things.

I want better things.

They gave me the classic look I’d been dreaming about without spending hundreds of dollars on designer sconces or opening up the original walls of my 1932 Tudor.

Paired with the battery-operated taper candles, they create the softest, coziest glow every evening.

Favorite Things Friday: My Favorite Finds for Women Over 50

One of my favorite parts of blogging has always been sharing the little things that genuinely make life easier, prettier, and more enjoyable. Before social media became what it is today, blogs were where we swapped recommendations with friends. We shared products we loved, decorating ideas, recipes, and little discoveries that made everyday life feel a little more special.

As I begin this new chapter, I wanted to bring that tradition back

Every Friday I’ll be sharing six favorites that I’m genuinely using and loving. My hope is that these posts become a resource you can come back to whenever you’re looking for a great beauty product, a cozy home find, a kitchen gadget worth buying, or simply a little inspiration for your own next chapter.

The Wonder Oven Is Perfect for Empty Nesters

One of the biggest adjustments after becoming an empty nester has been changing the way I cook. I don’t need to prepare meals for six anymore, and I definitely don’t want to heat up my full-sized oven for one or two servings.

That’s why I’ve been loving this adorable Wonder Oven.

Not only is it incredibly cute sitting on the countertop, but it’s also surprisingly versatile. It air fries, bakes, toasts, reheats, and cooks small batches much faster than a traditional oven. It’s become my go-to for lunch, roasting vegetables, warming leftovers, or making a quick dinner without the extra cleanup.

If you’re cooking for one or two people, I honestly think it’s one of the handiest appliances you can own.

Home Favorite

My Rechargeable Candle Warmer Lamp

I’ve always loved burning candles because they instantly make a home feel cozy, but lately I’ve found myself reaching for my rechargeable candle warmer even more.

Instead of burning the wick, the warming bulb gently melts the wax and fills the room with fragrance. The one I’m using has several brightness settings, so it doubles as a beautiful ambient lamp in the evenings.

I love that I don’t have to remember to blow out a candle, and my favorite candles seem to last much longer.

It’s one of those little luxuries that makes everyday life feel just a little bit calmer.

Beauty Favorite

An Affordable Lip Gloss That Rivals My High-End Favorite

If you’ve followed me for very long, you know I’ve been loyal to Buxom lip gloss for years.

Recently I picked up Revolution’s Pout Bomb Plumping Lip Gloss, and I was honestly surprised by how much I liked it.

It gives that same glossy, fuller-looking finish with a comfortable plumping effect, but it costs a fraction of the price. It has quickly earned a permanent spot in my purse.

I love finding affordable beauty products that perform like luxury brands because they prove you don’t always have to spend more to get great results.

Fashion Favorite

Two Pieces I’ve Been Reaching for Again and Again

There are two fashion favorites I keep grabbing this summer.

The first is my Mother jeans. I’ve talked about these before because they’re truly worth the investment. The fit, stretch, pocket placement, and quality are unlike anything else I’ve found, and they hold their shape beautifully year after year. I’ll be linking my favorite styles in my LTK so you can see exactly which pairs I wear most often.

Fashion over 50: my favorite jeans for fall!

In your 50s, it’s time to stop apologizing for buying good jeans. Buy the inexpensive top. Invest in the jeans that make your butt look amazing. A great pair will last for years—and these Mother jeans never let me down. The reason I love Mother jeans is the stretch technology and their pockets are the perfect size and placement. You can’t go wrong!!

The second is this lightweight leopard satin robe.

I’ve been searching for a robe that’s comfortable enough for summer but still feels a little luxurious. This one is soft, lightweight, and just fun to wear while getting ready in the morning or winding down at night.

Organization Favorite

A Padded Laptop Sleeve That Makes Traveling Easier

I carry my laptop almost everywhere, whether I’m heading to a coffee shop, filming content, or meeting clients.

This padded laptop sleeve has become one of those purchases that I use every single day.

It protects my computer without adding a lot of bulk, and the soft gingham pattern makes me smile every time I pull it out of my bag. It’s practical, simple, and exactly the kind of organizing product I appreciate because it solves a problem without overcomplicating things.

Just Because Favorite

My Favorite Little Self-Care Routine

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that self-care doesn’t have to mean an expensive spa day.

Sometimes it’s as simple as slowing down for an evening.

One of my favorite rituals lately has been putting on the Mediheal Hyper Hyaluronate sheet mask, slipping into my leopard robe, making a cup of tea, and watching a movie.

Those quiet moments help me recharge after a busy week of work, remodeling projects, and everyday life.

I’ve found that taking care of ourselves in small ways often makes the biggest difference.

What I’m Doing This Weekend

Remodeling, Real Estate, and the Farmers Market

This weekend is going to be a busy one.

I’m hosting an open house tonight, spending time working on projects at the Tudor, and hopefully wandering through the farmers market on Saturday morning. There’s something about fresh flowers, local produce, and strolling through the market that always inspires me.

I’m excited to share more of those adventures during Saturday Strolls this weekend.

Floating Candle Summer Tablescape

Happy August, friends!! Are you getting excited for fall or are you still in a summer State of Mind? Today I’m sharing this Whimsical magical tablescape that I created in our backyard patio area. I found the most ingenious over the table Rod system which is perfect for creating all sorts of summer tablescapes as well as parties in the summer and also throughout the entire year!

Floating Candles are So Romantic

I love dining Alfresco in the spring and summer time. And of course it’s even better when you include candlelight. So when I saw this hanging rod system I thought it would be perfect to hang little tea lights. There’s just something so special about Candlelight.

Over the Table Rod Stand

This over the table Rod system is a game changer for celebrations. I used to create this romantic candlelight dinner. But you can use it inside or outside and throughout the year. One of my favorite things about it is that it is adjustable.

How to Assemble the Rod System

The two main rods have clamps on the bottom that attach to your table top. The clamps have a screw system and you turn a lever under the clamp to tighten it up so it is secure on your table top. The clamps can be widened to accommodate whatever surface you’re using. So you can attach the clamps to a table but also you can use them on a countertop or a kitchen island or whatever surface you want them to attach to. Once you attach the clamps to your table, you attach two rods to each side of the clamp rods. The clamp rods have at at the top and you slide the adjoining rods into the “T” and then there is another Rod that slides inside those two adjoining rods which connect all of the rods together for me in a “U” shape. Then can adjust the height of the rod system, and then you tighten everything up!

Store Parts in Carrying Case

And once you are done using the rod system, it comes with a handy carrying case. You just unscrew all of the rods and put them in the carrying case and you can store them very easily in a closet in your home until you need it again!

Creating a Floating Candle Tablescape

Here is how I created this floating candle tablescape

I put the over the table Rod system together on my patio table. Then I added for a phone Magnolia Garland by wrapping it around the rods. Once the Garland was in place I hung these gorgeous clear hanging vessels to the top rod. I ordered a set of 12 clear hanging vessels and they came with pre-cut twine. I hung each vessel at different lengths and space them out evenly across the top rod.

Add Tea Lights

Then I inserted battery operated tea lights into each of the clear vessels. The tea lights that I ordered have two different settings. One setting is a continuous light that doesn’t change and the other setting is a flickering setting which is really beautiful and creates a really realistic looking candle. I’ve attached the links that I used for the Garland, Rod system, clear vessel kits and the tea lights that I use below!

• Set of 12 Clear Vessels with Twine
• Set of 12 Battery-Operated Tea Lights (with 2 light options – continuous light and flickering light)

Rattan Placemats

I found these return place mats and I think they are perfect for summer. The Rattan look is so on Trend and I love the pattern which is intricate and beautiful.

Rattan Vase

I found this beautiful Growers bunch of flowers at my local Trader Joe’s and it was so easy to cut and use as a centerpiece. They were tan vase is beautiful and matches the Rattan placemats. The base comes with a rattan outer part and a glass of vessel which fits inside of the rattan. It’s nice that the base comes out because you can pop it into your dishwasher and it’s so easy to keep it clean!

Scallop Plates

Scallop plates add a touch of whimsy. I bought them a few years ago and I don’t think they are made anymore so I have linked a similar set in case you want to grab some. I love that each plate has a different color rim and I think the scalloped edges are so pretty for summer and look amazing on top of the Rattan placemats.

Other Ways Your Can Style The Over-the-Table Rod System

I am so excited about this Rod system! It was so fun to use it to create this floating candle tablescape but I can think of literally dozens of different ways and occasions that you can use this system!

• Floating Candle Tablescape (this is the one I shared here today)
• Back to School – hang a floral garland with a Back to School pennant.
• Fall – fall floral garland. Hang mini pumpkins and string lights from the rods.
• Halloween – Black leaf garland. Hang small ghosts or skeletons from the rod.
• Thanksgiving – hang a pumpkin garland and use the same clear vessels with candles inside.
• Christmas – Hang an evergreen garland. Hang ornaments and lights from the rod.
• Hanukkah – Blue and gold garland with mini dreidels.
• Winter – White pom pom garland. Hang paper snowflakes from the rod.
• Valentine’s Day – Red pom pom garland. Hang mini hearts, clear vessels with pink tea lights inside.
• St. Patrick’s Day – green garland and little shamrocks hanging down.
• Easter – Spring flower garland and mini eggs hanging down.
• Summer – Summer flower garland and clear vessels hanging with mini votives.
• 4th of July – red white and blue garland with stars hanging down.

Those are just a few ideas! Plus, you have birthdays, weddings, graduations and other holidays and events you can use to decorate using this handy table idea!

Favorite Things of the Week — Early Fall Porches!

This week I’m continuing my new favorite things of the week posts! Since I started blogging 13 years ago, one of my favorite things was sharing YOUR ideas! I hosted a link up party each week and I LOVED featuring the recipes, DIY ideas and crafts that were linked up!

My Porch this Fall

The cusp between summer and fall is one of my favorite times of the year! I still get to enjoy the warm weather while I mix the colors and textures of summer and fall to create comfy porch spaces to enjoy with my kids! Today I want to share some of the items I used to create my porch this season.

Rattan Hanging Chair from Serena & Lily

This outdoor hanging rattan chair from Serena & Lily is the staple of my front porch. It’s a bit of an investment, but it’s far and away my favorite thing I’ve ever bought for my porch!

Magnolia Shaker Accent Table at Target

The Magnolia line at Target has released a newer version of the side table on my porch, and I absolutely love the new version! It’s perfect for potted plants, holding drinks, or even as a stool!

Pink Carnival Medallion Rug

I also love this bright pink medallion rug I’ve been using it on my front porch. It’s on sale for just about $50 right now!

A plaid rug is also perfect for a fall porch. I used this plaid rug from fall all the way through winter by changing up the decor. Here’s a similar plaid fall rug that is a great price!

Raffia Pumpkins at Target

I love these cream colored raffia pumpkins that are only $10 at Target right now. They’re perfect for any early fall porch–I’m going to get some soon!

Magnolia Decorative Apple Picking Ladder

One of my favorite items for a fall porch or inside to hang blankets on is this decorative ladder. Isn’t it cute??

Target Fall Faux Hops Wreath

I also love this simple faux hops wreath from Target. It’s perfect on it’s orn or you could add some small pumpkins or a bow!

Favorite Early Fall Porches

I want to share a few of my favorite porches I’ve seen lately!

I love this Front Porch Jennifer from Dimples and Tangles. It has just enough color to really pop and I love the contrast offered by the brick!

Summer Ideas I Love This Week

Happy weekend, friends! How was your week? We are in the full heat of summer here and getting ready to go on a trip to visit family. We are also making headway on my kids’ bathroom remodel!! Here are a few photos of where we started and where we are now! I can’t wait!

We also had a fun waffle night and did a little taste-test from our local Uncle Bob’s Butter Country family business. Things I Love This Week

I know you are busy with your families so I am going to keep things short and sweet this week. I hope you are doing something that makes you happy. For a long time Mother’s Day was a hard holiday for me. I think I felt like I didn’t measure up and it felt like a lot of pressure. But as I’ve gotten old I’ve learned to embrace me and seeing how great my kids are turning out makes me so happy. I am not saying I’ve been a perfect mother, not at all, I have made so many mistakes but I’ve grown and learned from them and I know I am a work in progress. I just wanted to let you know that not everything you see in the blog world or on Instagram is perfect all the time!

New Projects

I’m still working on our backyard patio and pergola and it is looking so cute!!! We are having our mother’s day brunch out there tomorrow and it was so fun to decorate it this week! If you scroll down to the ideas I share at the end you can see the hanging garden that I created last year. I mirrored that same idea on the back part of our backyard where the pergola is and I love how it turned out! I’ll be sharing an Instagram reel video sharing how easy it is to do this week!

I also wanted to share how adorable my daughter looked tonight as she headed to prom. Fun fact, we found her dress for .50 at the Goodwill Bins!!

This week I shared some yummy brunch ideas! I joined some friends who shared their favorite brunch tablescapes, party gifts, centerpieces and more!
