DIY Modern Farmhouse Dipped Nightstands. I have a hard time discerning what my decorating style is. I love clean lines, but I also love bright colors. I love industrial metal but I also love polka dots. I decided that right now my style is a kind of cozy Modern Industrial Farmhouse. Moving to our new neighborhood has been wonderful and I feel like a new happier chapter of my life is about to begin. So in line with this happier, brighter outlook, when I was decorating my new #AbbotWay bedroom I changed up the bedroom completely from what it was in the 1905Cottage. I went from grey tufted platform bed to a tall vintage metal bed with crisp white bedding.  I thought for quite awhile about what type of nightstand I wanted. I knew I needed something tall but I also wanted something that would go with the modern bench at the foot of the bed. And the new bedroom is a little on the small side, so I needed nightstands that were small but tall and also plain.

So when I was at Lowes buying materials for the Patriotic Wood Serving Tray, I spotted some round wood tabletops and modern legs.

They reminded me of some Modern Nightstands I liked online, but they were too short. I measured these new legs and found that the total tables would be the perfect height – yay! And there’s a secret to attaching the legs – I will share that with you!!

First to make the table legs look dipped, I measured 10 inches up the legs and marked that point. Then I taped each leg and wrapped the bottom of the leg in saran wrap to keep the leg from getting paint on it. After all of the legs were taped off, I spray painted each table leg with three coats of paint.

I also sprayed the table tops with the same spray paint.

Once dry, I sprayed the legs and table tops with glossy polyurethane paint because I wanted the nightstands to have a lacquered look.

There are certain leg brackets that you buy. There are two different kinds of leg brackets. Ones that make the legs go out straight from the table top and other brackets that are angled and make the legs go at an angle that look like the ones I found online.

Plus, there are different ways to make the nightstands have different looks. It all depends on how far apart the legs are placed on the table top. The closer the legs are together, the more mid-century the table will look. To make my nightstands I placed the legs midway into the tabletop. I used a plate to make a circle in the center of the table and then measured in between the brackets to make sure the brackets were equally spaced out.

That’s it!!

It’s a super simple project. And I love the way they look in my bedroom.

As for the cost, both nightstands cost me less than $60. This was less than half the cost of buying the ones online, plus these nightstands are taller than the ones online.

I am very happy with my new nightstands!!
