With only a few days left until the official arrival of spring, anticipation for warmer weather and blossoming landscapes is palpable. As we bid farewell to winter’s chill, it’s time to welcome the vibrant hues and fresh scents of the new season. Personally, I couldn’t wait to infuse my home with the spirit of spring. Inspired by the beauty of nature and the fluttering of butterflies, I embarked on a crafting adventure to create a sweet Spring Moss and Butterfly Wreath. Envisioning this wreath adorning my kitchen hood, I sought to capture the essence of spring with a touch of rustic charm and whimsy. Join me as I take you through the simple steps to craft your own delightful spring wreath

Spring Moss and Butterfly Wreath Supplies:

• Grapevine wreath
• Butterflies in two different sizes
• Moss
• Wide plaid ribbon
• Hot glue gun and glue sticks
• Puffy paint
• Matte craft paint
• Fine glitter

Directions to Make a Spring Moss and Butterfly Wreath:

Paint the Butterflies:

Begin by painting the butterflies to add a pop of flight and texture to your wreath. Apply a heavy coat of puffy paint to create a 3D effect. Once dry, layer two coats of matte white paint, sprinkling a touch of fine glitter while the paint is still wet for a subtle sparkle.

Prepare the Wreath Base:

Take the grapevine wreath and carefully tuck moss into various sections, ensuring even coverage and a natural appearance. Use hot glue to secure the moss in place, lifting sections of the wreath and applying glue as needed.

Attach the Butterflies:

With the moss in place, it’s time to add the butterflies. The butterflies typically come attached to wire, so simply apply hot glue to the wire ends and position them along the wreath, spacing them unevenly for a more organic look. Leave a space in the center where the bow will be placed.

Create the Bow:

Crafting a beautiful bow is essential for adding a charming finishing touch to your wreath.

• Cut a 4-foot section of ribbon, leaving about 12 inches as a tail.
• Make four loops of equal size and arrange them on your work surface with two loops on each side.
• Secure the loop ends with hot glue at the center, ensuring they remain intact when the ribbon is tied.
• Take another 12-inch length of ribbon and tie it tightly around the center of the bow, knotting it at the back and tucking the ends underneath.
• Fluff up the bow loops and attach it to the bottom of the wreath using hot glue. T
• rim the ribbon ends into an inverted V shape for a polished look.

As we eagerly await the arrival of spring, there’s no better way to usher in the season than with a charming DIY wreath. With just a handful of supplies and a dash of creativity, you can create your own Spring Moss and Butterfly Wreath to adorn your home. Spring Cottage Porch Decorating Ideas

I always get so excited when the weather starts warming up and it’s time for porch sitting! This year I kept things pretty simple with some easy ideas!

6 Spring Porch Ideas

I am joining my #SeasonalSimplicity friends who are sharing the prettiest porch ideas. And don’t worry! If you don’t have a front porch, these front doors are so inspiring!

Small Porch Ideas

We have a small back entry. I guess you could call it a porch even though it’s not covered. We don’t have a garage so this is where we park our cars and so we use this door a lot. At Christmas time I painted the back door to match our front door. I also added the prettiest Delaney Hardware doorknob. And I switched out the motion sensor light for a pretty hanging lantern. It made such a difference!

Small Porch Ideas: Add Plants Vertically

Since the space isn’t very big, I thought it might be nice to add some plants vertically. I found this screen and added pots that hang on the screen with clips that attach on the screen and rings that fit around the pots. This screen would also be so cute in a kitchen and you can pot your herbs to use all year round!

Small Porch Ideas: Add a Bold Doormat

A bold doormat can really make a statement on a small porch. I used this pretty leopard doormat and I love the contrast of the doormat with the greenery and pink door!

Faux olive garlands around the door feel so fresh. I brought our faux olive tree outside and put it in the cutest scallop basket!

Spring Front Porch: A Simple Spring Wreath

This is the easiest 5-minute wreath. took a simple green wreath and added a giant wicker egg. I just used wire to attach the egg to the wreath. I have a matching scallop basket that I put inside my entry room.

Spring Front Porch: A Coordinating Doormat

A doormat is a great way to add color to your spring porch. Instead of a traditional doormat, I added a simple cotton pink gingham rug. It matches my door and it’s washable which is a great idea in the spring since there might be wet elements this time of the year.

Spring Front Porch: Cozy Pillows and Blankets

Spring can be a little chilly, so adding some cozy pillows and a throw is perfect for those chilly mornings or evenings. This sweet blanket is so soft and I love the little ruffle at the bottom. I brought a bench from the other side of the porch over in front of the door for spring.

Ombre Easter Egg Wreath

I can’t wait for Spring! It’s March and I celebrated by making a bright and happy egg wreath! I used colors in my striped rug but you can paint your eggs ANY color you want! Use ALL of the colors in the rainbow if you want!

Colorful Ombre Easter Egg Wreath: Supplies

Here are the supplies to make this Colorful Ombre Easter Egg Wreath! Just a few notes, I wanted to make my wreath as large as possible to hang above our mantel. This wreath form is 24 inches wide. I used 100 white eggs which I painted different colors. If you have a smaller wreath form you won’t need as many eggs. If you are making a 12-inch wreath, you can half the total number of eggs needed to 50. I purchased my supplies from Hobby Lobby, but I have provided amazon links to each product to make it easier for you.

• Flat Wire Wreath Form
• Paintable Easter Eggs. I used 10 colors and painted 10 eggs each color (I actually used about 90 total and had a few left over). These are the colors I used:
• Ivory
• Light Yellow
• Dark Yellow
• Deep Coral
• Smart Coral
• CCoral Pink
• Terracotta
• Pink Blast
• Bright Pink
• CPink Blossom
• Green Eucalyptus Garland
• Canvas fabric or ribbon to wrap around the wreath form

What Kind of Eggs Do You Use to Make a Colorful Ombre Easter Egg Wreath?

You want to get eggs that are made to be painted. Regular plastic eggs won’t work for this project. I used white eggs from Hobby Lobby. But here are some eggs that will work as well — Paintable Easter Eggs.

The Easiest Way to Paint Easter Eggs

The easiest way to paint easter eggs is to push a dowel or long pin on the underside of the easter egg. Then paint the egg, take the dowel out and let the egg dry in the egg container. If you don’t have a small dowel or long pin you can hold the egg between your index finger and thumb, paint the egg while spinning it so you get the whole egg painted, then place the egg in the egg container.

How Many Coats of Paint Does it Take to Paint Eggs

The lighter shades of paint only required one layer of paint. The darker eggs needed 2-3 coats of paint.

How to Make a Colorful Ombre Easter Egg Wreath

Paint All Eggs

I painted 100 eggs 10 colors. So 10 eggs each of the 10 shades of paint. I let them dry thoroughly.

Wrap Wreath Form

While the eggs were drying, I wrapped canvas around my wreath form.

Add Green Garland

After the wreath was wrapped, I laid the green garland over the wreath form and hot glued it onto the form.

Place Colored Eggs on Top of Greenery

Once the green garland was glued on the wreath form, I added the eggs. I started with the darkest eggs which were the dark orange eggs. I placed all of the eggs facing the same direction to make the wreath look more uniform. Place two eggs pointing out with their ends meeting in the middle and the other ends facing forward, making a “v” shape with both eggs. Then I added one egg to the middle of the “V”, facing slightly up and resting against the two eggs forming the “V” egg. I glued all edges of the eggs together and the bottom of all eggs to the greenery and canvas underneath.

Glue Eggs in Ombre Colors

Keep glueing the eggs, using all of one color together. Then take the next lighter shade of the same color. I transitioned from dark red, to lighter orange, even lighter orange, then the yellow eggs and the the pink eggs. You can lay all the eggs out first if you want to make sure you have enough eggs to cover the whole wreath.

Where should I display this wreath?! I love it on the mantel but I think it would also be so pretty hung on my kitchen hood or on our front door! I am kind of obsessed with it!!

Spring Butterfly Pennant Wreath

This bright and cheerful spring wreath will welcome visitors and create a festive front door or freshen up a wall for the season. I love how easy it is to create! The butterflies are cut out of scrapbook paper so it’s easy to match them to the color of your door or home decor!

Cut Butterflies Out of Paper for Spring Wreath

Once you pick out the paper patterns you want to use on your wreath, it’s time to cut them out. There are several ways you can do this.

• Use a Die Cut Machine with a Butterfly die.
• A craft cutting machine.
• Cut butterflies using a butterfly punch.
• Buy butterfly ephemera. The gold and white butterflies are ephemera in my Pebbles line. Here are the gold and white butterflies. The black and white ones are here.
• Draw simple butterfly shapes and cut them out with a small pair of scissors.

I used my Sizzix Vagabond Die Cut Machine and a thin cuts butterfly pack with three different size butterfly shapes. If you are interested in how a Sizzix die cut machine works, I have a post about How to Use a Die Cut Machine you can check out!

Jen Hadfield Reaching Out Paper

I used my new Pebbles Jen Hadfield Reaching Out paper line for this project! You can buy the paper either individually or in a big 12×12 book! The paper line will be in JoAnn Stores this month! I am so excited!!

Create a Big Pennant

You can sew a pennant out of canvas. Or you can buy one. Here’s a link to a pair of pennants that that you can buy and use one on the wreath.

Make a Spring Saying on the Pennant

I wrote “Spread your wings and fly!” on my pennant. I think the saying is perfect to go along with butterflies! But you can spell out anything that you want. I used thicker letters from my Pebbles “The Avenue” line. I love the floral pattern on these thickers. Other ways you can add letters to your pennant are cutting out letters with a die cut machine, using thickers, cutting out letters with a craft cutting machine or hand lettering a saying with permanent pens! Thickers do have adhesive backs but since I was adding the thicker letters to fabric, I added a dab of hot glue to the back to make sure they stay on the pennant.

Attach Butterflies to Wreath

I also added the butterflies to my wreath with hot glue. If you are using the wreath inside and don’t want to damage the leaves, you can add the butterflies with glue dots instead of hot glue.

Put a Bow on Your Wreath

The last thing you will want to do is add a bow to the top of the wreath. I created the bow, then attached it to the wreath with a small piece of wire. I hung the pennant on the wreath by looping it over the bow.

Enjoy a new Spring Butterfly Wreath

Hang the wreath on your door, or on a wall or a mantel. The butterflies and spring saying will add spring cheer to your home!

Create a Spring Porch

I added my new spring butterfly wreath to my spring porch. Since my porch is covered I think the paper butterflies will be fine. If you don’t have a protected door I would either mod podge the butterflies with outdoor mod podge or laminate them before you add them to your wreath.

New Spring Porch Mats

My friend at Nicole at Nickle Designs sent me the cutest porch mats! This is the Spring Blooms mat with their black and white boho rug underneath!! Isn’t it the cutest!! Nicole hand stencils all of the mats and they are gorgeous. There are mats with seasonal and fun sayings as well as adorable mats that can go under the welcome mats. Be sure to check them out!

Egg Carton Spring Centerpiece

I love upcycling old tired items and giving them a new life. I’ve been doing it for years. I turned an old thrift-store picnic basket into a chic boho basket and old t-shirts into a t-shirt quilt last year. Since Spring and Easter are all about decorating with eggs, I thought it might be fun to create a centerpiece where we can showcase those pretty eggs. And what better idea than taking egg cartons and upcycling them into a gorgeous centerpiece?

8 AMAZING Egg Decorating Tutorials

I am excited to show you this fun tutorial. But first, I am thrilled to share that I have some friends who are all sharing awesome egg-decorating tutorials! Be sure to see them all at the bottom of the post and click over to see their tutorials. And pin their ideas so you can make them!!

Save Your Old Egg Cartons

You can make the egg carton wreath any size you want. The one I made uses 28 egg cartons, cut into 4-egg and 3-egg sections. But you can make any shape you want. For example,, you could make a wreath using 2-egg pieces or any combination you want. This wreath has 4 4-egg sections and 4 3-egg sections.

Trim the Edges

After you have cut out the sections for your wreath, cut around the outsides of the cartons to round them off. I also cut out the middle pieces so there are bigger holes in the middle.

Hot Glue the Sections

Arrange your egg sections into a circle. Then hot glue the sections together. After I hot glued the sections and they cooled, I flipped the whole thing over and hot glue the sections from the back. This makes the whole wreath much stronger.

Add a Base Underneath

If you are using this arrangement as a centerpiece you don’t have to reinforce the wreath. It’s pretty fragile, but I transferred it from my craft table to my dining room table by lifting it gently up and then put it on a cookie sheet to transfer the wreath. If you want to hang this wreath up you should get a chipboard wreath form and glue the wreath onto that form so it can be hung up.

Spray Paint the Wreath

This is optional. If you want a more organic look you can leave the wreath brown. Or you can also use white egg cartons. My egg cartons were the basic brown color so I spray painted my egg cartons white. I spray painted the front, then flipped it over once it was dry and spray painted the whole thing from the bottom.

Add Decorative Elements

You can add whatever you want. I added some silk flowers, some faux succulents and I even added some paper butterflies.

Add Eggs

Now you can add your eggs that you want to display.

Gild Your Eggs

I gilded some of my eggs. It’s so easy to do! I bought some Martha Stewart Gilding and brushed it onto the eggs. This is so much easier than using gold or silver leaf material and having to seal it. With this gilding paint all you have to do is paint the eggs and you are done! The paint is oil-based so use a cheap brush that you can throw away.

Hot Glue Your Elements

If you are going to hang your wreath up, now is the time to hot glue everything into the egg sections. But if you are using the wreath as a centerpiece you don’t have to hot glue the elements. You can just place them inside the egg sections and that way you can change them out each time you use it!

Add a Base and Hang it Up

I made another egg carton spring wreath and added a chipboard base. I hope glued the egg crates onto the chipboard base and then I hot glued the elements inside of the cart and hung it up!

I love making wreaths! Wreaths are one of my favorite crafts to make and I love thinking up new wreaths to create for our home!

Plaid and Carrot Spring Theme

This year our theme for Spring is Carrots and Plaid. I shared our Carrot and Plaid Mantel. And outside we have a matching theme on our Spring porch.

Layered Spring Wreath DIY

I knew I needed to make a wreath that fit in with our carrot and plaid theme. I decided to layer a couple of wreaths together. I wrapped a foam wreath with the orange gingham fabric that I had used on our mantel. Then I layered a green wreath with white flowers over the top. I found the green wreath at Hobby Lobby.

Make a Wreath in 10 Minutes!

This is a quick and easy wreath to make. It look amazing in real life and no one would know that it’s so easy to make!!

Supplies:

Larger foam wreath form

Smaller leaf wreath. This wreath can be all leaves or also have flowers on it.

1 yard of Gingham fabric or ribbon

Small moss bunny

Plaid carrots (I found them at hobby lobby)

How to make a Spring Plaid Carrot Layered Wreath

Rip the fabric into 3-inch wide strips

Wrap the foam wreath form with the gingham fabric strips.

Lay the green leaf form on top of the larger gingham wreath.

Hot glue the carrots and bunny onto the leaves of the green wreath.

Take a strip of gingham fabric and wrap it under both wreaths and make a bow.

Hang it up!

Do you decorate for Easter? I love an easy project. This idea is fast and only takes a few minutes to assemble. 5-Minute Spring Bunny Wreath.

I found the bunny wood cutout and the garland in Target’s Dollar Spot. Then I just added a felt ball and some ribbon and voila – a festive Easter wreath.

I hot glued everything together. The felt balls are from the felt garlands that I use all of the time. I found them in the scrapbook section of Hobby Lobby. You can use your 40% off coupon and they are about $5.

If you don’t have access to a Target, or see this post after they stop carrying these bunny cut outs, The Wood Connection has some similar bunny cut outs that would probably work as well.

I draped a couple of the felt ball garlands around my front door too. I filled some lanterns with dollar tree eggs and put them in my galvanized planters, along with some Dollar Tree flowers since it’s too cold for real flowers to survive yet. I’m really happy with my easy and inexpensive Spring porch so far!

I also made some bunny topiaries and created an easy Spring Mantel. I will share that project with you this week too! Doing all of these Easter projects really has me excited about Spring!! I can’t wait for warmer weather and Spring Break!
