Removable Wallpaper is Easy to Install

The trick to installing removable wallpaper is having TWO people install the panels. You need to line up the top of the pattern at the top of the wall and hang ONE long panel all the way to the baseboard. Because each panel is so long, having TWO people doing it together makes it easier to line the panel up straight on the wall.

Removable Wallpaper is an Great Way to Add Color or Pattern

You can bring color, pattern or texture into your room in minutes by adding removable wallpaper. Look at our entryway room. In about 1 hour I had a brand-new looking room. I also wallpapered our bedroom in our last house with removable wallpaper from Walls Need Love – removable wallpaper in master bedroom.

Why Install Removable Wallpaper Instead of Traditional Wallpaper?

The thing I love most about removable wallpaper is how easy it is to take off too. I love to change my rooms up so being able to take the wallpaper off with no damage to underlying walls is a HUGE bonus! I added this plaid removable wallpaper to my office and I love the way it looks, but I also love that I can take it off anytime I want!

We are so excited to move into our #1891AvenuesCottage. Only a few more days until we get to start working on our forever home! One of the things that makes a huge difference in your home are your light fixtures!

So many homes have plain, cheap builder lights that never get switched out. You know what I am talking about (boob lights LOL)! You can really personalize your space by installing a new light fixture. It is inexpensive and all of the light fixtures in this round-up are on Amazon and come to your home, in most cases, in 2 days!

No matter what style of home you have, I can almost guarantee there is a light here that you will love! In our new home I plan to switch ALL of the lights out, it’s one of the FIRST things I am going to do!

Here are 15 of my The BEST Affordable Modern Farmhouse Light Fixtures!

Black 26-inch Dome Light

This black dome light is a show-stopper. It’s perfect paired over a kitchen island, above a dining table or in a bedroom.

Here you can see how great the black domed light looks in a dining area. It’s a fabulous focal point for any room!

Bubble Glass Chandelier

I am a little bit of an obsession with bubble chandeliers. They are so happy looking and make such a statement. You can hang one almost anywhere — in an entryway, above a bed, over a table. I plan to hang one above the spiral staircase in our new home!

Here is the bubble chandelier hanging in a family room. I love how bright and pretty it looks!

A metal pendant light is a must for a modern farmhouse or cottage. It’s classic and timeless. This pendant light has brass accents which make it even more special and a cage also made out of copper. These details elevate the light and make it memorable.

I have a hot pink rug that I love. I got it out for Summer and it makes me so happy! But I didn’t know what to do about decorating for Fourth of July with our hot pink rug. I knew that hot pink and red would NOT work together. So I decided to leave the rug I love out and incorporated neutral Fourth of July decor instead!

this neutral Fourth of July mantel was inspired by a wood flag I found in Target’s Dollar Spot. I loved the different tones of wood in the flag and I thought the different stains of wood would be so pretty in a neutral Fourth of July mantel.

Four easy elements you can create to create a beautiful neutral Fourth of July mantel or vignette

Create a Fourth of July Mantel Focal Point

A large element on the mantel looks great and really grounds the mantel. Since the wood flag was the inspiration for this mantel, I decided to create a flower wreath to centerpiece the flag. And to make an even bigger statement I decided to frame the wreath inside of pretty wood frame.

Frame a Flower and Flag Wreath

I stained a plain wood frame that has been sitting in my basement. I used gel stain and all I did was dip a damp paper towel in the stain and then I rubbed it on the wood until I got the depth of stain I wanted. The nice thing about gel stain is that you can also wipe some off while it is still wet if the stain is darker than intended.

Wrap The Glass in Fabric

Once the stain was dry, I wrapped the glass in burlap and secured it in the back with tape. Now it was ready for the wreath

Create a Flower and Flag Wreath

I added white and pale green hydrangeas to a wreath form and attached the flag. I am sharing a detailed tutorial on how to create this neutral Fourth of July wreath on the blog tomorrow. Once the wreath was done I hot glued the ribbon at the top to the frame.

Stain Wood Stars

These stars are from Hobby Lobby. They come unfinished. I stained the smaller star the same stain color as the wood frame.

Add Flowers to Star Candle Holders

The galvanized star candle holders were $1 at the Dollar Spot last year. Instead of adding candles, I added faux flowers that echo the ones in the wreath. Then I tied ribbon around the candle holders and on the handles to tie in with the ribbon on the garlands.

Layer Fourth of July Garlands

Layering garlands creates more interest and texture to your mantel or vignette. I used a giant pom pom garland that I have used for a few different holidays. It’s neutral and I love the shape of the pom poms. I also added two garlands of wood stars with little lights and two garlands of wood stars. These garlands are also from Target’s Dollar Spot. I added matching ribbon to the garlands.

Add Elements to the Bottom of the Fireplace

Once the top of the mantel was done, I decorated the bottom of the fireplace. Galvanized containers and added faux flowers. Then I tied a navy and cream ribbon around the containers. I also added a small vintage chair and a star marquee sign. Adding items to the bottom of the mantel draws the eye downward and adds a finishing touch to the mantel or vignette.

I also added a little vignette to our coffee table since it sits right in front of the mantel. The wood stand is from Ikea and I added a striped vase a candle holder and flowers!

I’m sharing my 2015 Christmas porch and entryway today as part of Just a Girl’s Holiday Room Tour. I am so excited to see all of the rooms on this tour. It’s going to be so fun!! Hello to those of you hopping over from French Country Cottage!

This year I decided to do a natural type of look for the porch in shades of green and grey.

The first thing I did was I made a 10-minute wreath for the door. So easy!! Since I was going for a natural look this year, I picked up a fresh everygreen wreath. And here’s how I created the 10 minute wreath:

1. I found a little house ornament and hung it at the top of the wreath.
2. I found some battery-operated lights and wrapped them around the wreath and inside of the house.
3. I added a bow to the bottom.
4. I hot glued some tiny ornaments on the wreath.
5. I added a Home Sweet Home block under the house.

I love the way the house shines with the lights.

I also added frresh greens to the top of the door. And a fresh wreath on a little sled.

The topiaries I used used to be in my other house and I was going to donate them but then I thought they might be really cute on the porch of the cottage. And the sign I made for $7 with spray paint and my craft cutting machine.

I found some little white twinkle lights and wrapped them around the topiaries.

So come on in! Here’s my entryway:

I picked up a fresh tree on a whim the other night. I love the way fresh trees smell!

I kept a little bench in the entryway so people can come in and take off their shoes. I love this copper boot tray.

And plaid! I am really into plaid this year. These pillows with the fur edging are fun for wintertime.

And of course, I love my Heidi Swapp HELLO sign that Ella and I glittered. It’s so sparkly.

I had my cookie exchange at the cottage over the weekend and having the front of my home all festive made me so happy!!

I just love this time of the year. And it’s so fun because this year I also got to decorate the #1905Cottage for the holidays. I just love that little home that we have been renovating!!

This is the little banquette area that we carved out of an awkward closet space. I just love the upholstered bench that I found from Overstock. I added some shiny gold pillows, a gold tablecloth and some napkins. The plates are plain cheap plates and all I did was print off some gold vinyl and adhered it to the plates, creating chargers. Of course, you don’t want to put these in the dishwasher, but you can wipe them down with a damp cloth.

And I created a little happy centerpiece. I got the sleigh from Bath & Body Works a few years ago. I just added a Styrofoam block to the bottom and covered it with pine boughs from a tree in my yard. Then I printed off the flags, hot glued them onto some stripey straws and added a little glitter glue. I love the way it looks in the middle of the table.

I also added some gold stickers to the wall behind the banquette. You can get these from Shelley @HouseofSmiths vinyl shop. I just love these gold stickers.
