DIY Gingerbread Christmas Wreath

I love decorating our home for Christmas. Each year, I choose a different Christmas theme, and this year I picked a whimsical gingerbread theme! So when Hobby Lobby contacted me about coming up with a DIY Christmas wreath, I was so excited to create something special. I headed to my local Hobby Lobby, where I had the BEST time exploring all the Christmas aisles. And guess what? Right now, all of Hobby Lobby’s Christmas Department is 50% off!

Let me show you how I created this adorable Gingerbread Christmas Wreath that’s perfect for adding a little sweetness to your holiday decor.

Gingerbread Christmas Wreath Supplies

I found everything for this wreath at Hobby Lobby, making it so convenient to bring my gingerbread vision to life! Here’s what you’ll need and where to find each item your Hobby Lobby store:

25-Inch Norfolk Pine Wreath
I picked up the most realistic evergreen wreath in the Christmas section. The lush, bouncy tips are perfect for creating a festive base.

Gingerbread-Person-Shaped Cutting Board
This adorable cutting board caught my eye in the kitchen Christmas decor aisle. It’s the perfect whimsical centerpiece for this wreath.

Krylon Decor Selects Satin Brown Boots Spray Paint
You’ll find a wide variety of spray paints, including the perfect gingerbread-inspired shade, in the craft supplies section.

Unfinished Wood Snowflakes
These wood ornaments came from the Christmas crafts aisle. They’re easy to customize and make adorable gingerbread “cookies.”

Ribbon Bundle
I fell in love with the ribbon bundles in the ribbon and fabric section. The colors and textures—like rickrack and cording—are perfect for a gingerbread theme.

Small Pearl Buttons
These tiny pearl buttons were in the sewing section and add the sweetest detail to the gingerbread centerpiece.

Other Supplies
Don’t forget your essentials, like a glue gun, glue sticks (or E6000 glue for a stronger hold), and evergreen pipe cleaners, all of which you can also find in the craft supplies section.

Supplies You’ll Need to Make a Tis Gingerbread Wreath

Here’s everything I used for this project:

Main Supplies:

• 25-inch Norfolk pine wreath
• Gingerbread-person-shaped cutting board
• Krylon spray paint
• One pack of unfinished wood snowflakes
• Ribbon bundle
• Small pearl buttons

Other Supplies:

• Glue gun and glue sticks (or E6000 glue)
• Evergreen pipe cleaners (optional) If you don’t want to use the pipe cleaners to tie the cutting board onto the wreath, you can also hot glue or use E6000 to glue the cutting board to the wreath.

Preparing the Gingerbread Cookies

The first step in creating this wreath is transforming the wood snowflakes into adorable gingerbread cookies. I used two coats of spray paint on one side of the ornaments, let them dry, and then flipped them over to paint the backs.

Once the snowflakes were completely dry, I used paint pens to draw fun snowflake embellishments.

I created two different designs and painted three snowflakes in each pattern. They turned out so cute—like little cookies fresh out of the oven!

Attaching the Gingerbread Centerpiece

To attach the gingerbread-person cutting board, I first wrapped the twinkle lights around the wreath, making sure they were evenly distributed. I secured the battery pack to the back of the wreath using an evergreen pipe cleaner. It’s easy to tuck the battery pack out of sight this way.

Then, I attached the cutting board to the center of the wreath. I used pipe cleaners on the back of the arms and legs, securing them tightly to the wreath’s wire frame. If you prefer a stronger hold, you can use E6000 glue, but keep in mind it takes 24 hours to set completely.

Adding Sweet Details

What’s a gingerbread person without buttons? I used wire cutters to remove the backs of some pearl buttons, then glued them down the center of the cutting board. These little details make the wreath feel extra special. Next, I hot-glued the snowflake “cookies” onto the evergreen wreath. I arranged them evenly around the greenery for a balanced look.

Finishing Touches with Ribbon

The final step was adding the ribbons. From the ribbon bundle, I chose about 12 pieces in different colors and textures. I tied each piece into a small knot and attached them to the bottom of the wreath for a playful, whimsical effect.

With the ribbons in place, I flipped the switch on the twinkle lights and hung the wreath in our gingerbread-themed kitchen. It adds the perfect amount of holiday cheer!

Holiday Evergreen Disco Ball Wreath

Hi, friends!! Are you getting excited for the holidays? I love decorating our home and getting it ready for festivities. One of my favorite things to do is creating a special wreath for the holidays! One of my VERY favorite things are disco balls. They remind me of my childhood and love of roller skating. Over the summer I shared a DIY Disco Ball Planter and I loved the way it sparkled in the sunshine! So this year I thought DISCO BALLS would be such a fun theme for the holidays!

Turn Disco Ball Ornaments into a Beautiful Holiday Wreath

I love the way the many mirrored squares on disco balls reflect the light! When the light hits this wreath, it reflects the light and all of those pinpoints of lights are so beautiful and happy! I think it is such a beautiful ideas for the holidays.

Where Can I Find Disco Balls?

You can find disco balls in a few different places. I have compiled some below if you want to make this wreath!

• Disco ball 2-inch ornaments (this is the size I used for this wreath)
• Disco ball 4-inch ornaments (you can use a bigger size ball and use less of them for a bolder look)
• Disco ball 8-inch ornaments (use this larger size if you want to display one large disco ball in the center of the wreath. I also used this size to make the disco ball planter)
• Disco ball light up garland (these disco balls are connected and look amazing on a mantel or as a centerpiece)
• Large 12-inch disco ball (this size looks so great hanging from the center of a room or in a window to reflect the light.

How to Make a Holiday Evergreen Disco Ball Wreath

This wreath seriously takes about 15 minutes to make. So easy! Here is how to make it!

Holiday Evergreen Disco Ball Wreath Supplies

Here are the supplies to make a Holiday Evergreen Wreath:

• Wreath form – This wreath is most similar to mine. And here are some wreath forms that will work for this wreath.
• Disco Balls (I used 2-inch ornaments)
• Ribbon – you can use any color you want!
• Macrame Cord – to tie the ornaments to the wreath.
• Jump Rings – you might not need these but if you are using wide cord it makes it easier to string the cord through the jump ring which is attached to the top of the ornament.
• Super Glue – (optional) I added a drop of super glue to the ends of the cords holding the disco balls so they won’t unravel.

Holiday Evergreen Disco Ball Wreath Directions

Here’s how to make this easy, festive disco ball wreath!

• If your wreath doesn’t have twine at the top, take a 30-inch length of macrame cord and wrap it around the top of the wreath and tie it at the back side of the wreath.
• Attach a 10-inch length of macrame cord to the top of the wreath. I slipped the cord under the cord at the top of the wreath. But you can hot glue it to the front of the cord if you want. Leave the ends of the cord loose.
• Cut 4 lengths of 20 inch macrame cord. Loop the cord through the 10-inch length of cord. Tie the 10-inch cords to the middle of the 4 lengths and tie in a knot.
• You should have 10 lengths of cord not that is attached to the top of the wreath and hanging in the middle of the wreath.
• Lay the disco balls inside the wreath and see how long you want each disco ball to hang. I staggered mine from the very top of the wreath all the way through the middle and the last disco ball hangs just below the bottom of the center of the wreath.
• If you are using thick cord, add jump rings to the top of each ornament.
• Tie each disco ball with one of the ends of the macrame cord. Start at the top and work your way down.
• Thread macrame cord through the jump ring and double knot the cord. Cut the cord as close to the top of the knot as possible.
• I used a dot of hot glue to secure the knot.
• Once all disco balls are attached, cut your ribbon.
• I used three lengths of 48-inch ribbon and tied a bow at the top. Then I hot glued the ribbon to the top of the cords to cover up where they are attached at the top fo the wreath.

Enjoy Your New Disco Ball Wreath

I added my wreath to my mantel but I plan on putting it on my porch and making a garland that goes around my front door with live evergreen branches and disco balls. I love the way the disco balls look in the sunshine. It’s so happy and bright!!

Hi friends! Can you believe that Christmas in is just a couple weeks? I love this time of year. It’s so fun creating easy ideas to bring the holiday spirit into your home! Here are some ideas to help you enjoy the feeling of Christmas fully!

These dipped Oreo cookies are so fun to make with the kids! I shared three different designs you can make but it would be fun to have a few different colors of frosting and sprinkles and see what your kids create!!

Anthropologie-Inspired Painted Bouquet Holiday Ornaments

I wanted to create some sweet ornaments to go with my pink ornaments on my tree. I found some painted flower ornaments on Anthropologie’s website. And since I had all of the supplies to make them, I created 10 ornaments for FREE instead of spending about $150 on ornaments. I love that they don’t have to be perfect so anyone can make them. I have all of the supplies, steps and directions on this post.

DIY Thrifted Ornament Wreath

I partnered with KSL Classifieds to share this fun holiday decor project using vintage ornaments.

I love using the KSL Classifieds app to search for unique treasures. Their new, secure Messages feature makes buying and selling items so fast and easy!

I searched for “vintage ornaments” and found this beautiful lot of 50’s ornaments. When I picked them up from the seller, she told me that they were her husband’s grandmother’s ornaments. I can only imagine all of the holiday memories these ornaments have seen! I shared my plans with her of using them to make an ornament wreath and she loved the idea that these ornaments will be treasured for decades to come.

How to Make a Vintage Ornament Wreath:

1. Find a set of vintage ornaments on KSL Classifieds

2. Use a pretty layering wreath. (The one I used is from my friend Laura at www.roundwreath.com )

3. Lay the ornaments out on the wreath to see how you want to arrange them.

4. Once you have the placement you want, use wire or hot glue to attach the ornaments to the wreath.

5. Add a bow at the top.

6. Hang up and enjoy your one-of-a-kind wreath!

Fabric Trees and Matching Pom Pom Wreath

One of my favorite fabric brands, Waverly has a line of Inspirations fabric now at Walmart!

I used fat quarters to make these easy fabric trees and matching wreath! Save this reel and make some for YOUR house! The complete instructions are below!

Supplies:

styrofoam cones and a styrofoam wreath form

Waverly Inspirations fat quarters (1 quarter per cone, 4 quarters for he wreath)

Pom pom trim

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Directions:

Iron each fat quarter fabric.

Line the edge of the styrofoam cones up with the edge of the fat quarter.

Put the cone on top of the fat quarter fabric and cut out a circle. Use hot glue to attach the circle to the base of the cone and attach with hot glue.

Run a line of hot glue at the edge of the fabric and roll the styrofoam cone until the whole cone is covered.

Trim the bottom of the fabric. Don’t worry if it isn’t perfect because you will cover up the bottom edge with pom pom trim.

Add pom pom trim at the bottom of the cone.

To Make the Fat Quarter Wreath:

Tear 4 colors fat quarter material in 2 inch lengths.

Add a dab of hot glue and wrap the first strip around the wreath. Overlap sections until you have 1/4 of the wreath wrapped.

Do this with each color of fabric until the whole wreath is wrapped.

Wrap pom pom trim around the wreath

I put my fabric trees on candle sticks to give them different heights, but you can also have them sit directly on your mantel or shelf.

Christmas Card Ladder Display

How do you display your holiday cards? Here’s an easy card holder idea

I took this cute ladder that we use in our bathroom to hang towels on and turned it into an easy card holder for the holidays

All you need for this project is a little ladder, some twine and tiny clothespins!

Just tie a knot at the upper left hand side of the ladder, then run the twine across and down the ladder. You want to make sure it wraps around one of the rings so the twine will stay in place. Once you get to the bottom of the ladder, just make a knot and cut the twine.

I used some black clothespins that I had in my dream box, but gold or brass clips would be so pretty!

It’s also a fun way to hang stockings if you won’t have a mantel.

A couple of years ago I created some Scandinavian Snowflake Colorful Ornaments and I love them so much that I decided to make a larger version to hang over our couch. The best part about this project is that you can make them as colorful or neutral as you want! Just paint the canvases whatever color works for YOUR home!

Candy Cane Colorful Christmas Tree

One of the first thing that I fell in love with when I walked into our 1891 home for the first time was the spiral staircase! There was the perfect curved place for a tree. I love filling it with a pretty themed tree each year. This year I chose “Candy Cane” for this tree and our kitchen area. I just finished installing the new runner and our kitchen remodel is almost done!

Our kitchen remodel is coming along. I painted our island black and I love the dark neutral background.

Bring Color in with Fresh Greens

I added fresh greens on our open shelves. I also added a wreath on our new planked hood.

Colorful Painted Cookie Jar

I spray painted a white cookie jar my favorite shade of pink and I love the way it pops in the kitchen, It’s the same shade of pink I painted the vintage step stool that’s in our back pantry!

DIY Tiled Vintage Cabinet

One of my favorite projects I tackled this year is the DIY tile backsplash that installed in a beautiful Facebook Marketplace cabinet. I used the same matching tile that we put in the back pantry. I love the way it ties the kitchen and back pantry together. This is where we keep our everyday dishes and glassware. I added a few holiday touches inside!

Can you believe this cabinet was originally a gun cabinet?? I added some plaid MacKenzie-Childs gingham napkins to add some holiday cheer to the cabinet!

Colorful Plaid Dining Area

In our dining area I went with a plaid theme. My mom, sisters and I took a girls’ trip to Scotland last year and the plaid reminds me of our trip!

I used MacKenzie-Childs throws instead of a tablecloth. My 8 quart MacKenzie-Childs stock pot to create a festive floral centerpiece and I love the way the bright floral Flower Market print plays with the plaids. Then I added some simple wreaths to the open shelves there and red and white plaid bows to bring color to the wall.

Holiday Butler’s Pantry

One of my favorite new spaces in our home is our NEW butlers pantry. We are just finishing this space up, but I couldn’t resist adding some bright and colorful items to bring some happiness to this baking section.

I added a colorful wreath, garland and fresh evergreen boughs and I love the way it looks!

Colorful Holiday Laundry Room Decor

Our new laundry room adjoins the pantry and it’s also is almost done! I spent all summer stripping and refinishing some vintage doors that we hung in the wall to separate the space. It was worth the work!

We are still waiting on some back-ordered cabinet pulls and a few other details but we are so excited to have a functioning laundry room!! Bottlebrush trees bring in some happy color. A wreath on top of a vintage ironing board adds holiday cheer!

I love decorating our porch. One of the things we love about where we live is that all of the homes are built with porches. It’s so much fun to drive around the neighborhood during the holidays and see all of the lights and decorations! Each year I love having a theme. This year I did a Joy to the World mantel in our family room so I thought it would be fun to carry the theme over to the front door too.

Personalize your Porch with easy, inexpensive DIY elements

I also love creating DIY hand-made elements for the holidays. It’s inexpensive and it means so much to me when I create them myself. For this project there are a few DIY elements I added. A GIANT Joy sign, a Snowball Wreath and a hand-painted rug.

GIANT Joy Sign

I love creating giant signs out of inexpensive pine shelves. I bought a $10 shelf and had the hardware store cut in half. I made two signs out of the one piece of wood. One sign is propped up by our mantel and the other sign is by the front door. I made each sign a little different that the other.

The Joy sign in our family room is very sweet. It has metal letters, an embroidery hoop for the “O” and is painted white. The sign by our door is also white but I painted some big resin letters bright colors and then for the “O” I made a little wreath and added some colorful ribbons! It makes me happy seeing how festive it looks on the porch!

Snowball Galvanized Wreath

I love this galvanized metal wreath form. I bought it last year at Hobby Lobby and I’ve used it so many times for different holidays. I just switch out the insides and start over. For Christmas I thought it would be cute to do a snowball wreath. I also added a bright tree and a couple galvanized houses, plus a Candy Cane sign at the top. It’s whimsical and fun.

Painted JOY Rug

I’ve been blogging for over 10 years. During that time I’ve gone through quite a few project phases — chevon, burlap, subway art signs, and also painting rugs. I took a few years off but I am back to loving to paint rugs. Little jute rugs are an easy way to create a special saying your guests will see as soon as they come up to your door. I have tried spray painting jute rugs and it’s hard because when you tape off your letters to paint, the spray gets under the jute since it isn’t flat and the lines are never clear. This year I found a new way to paint jute rugs. I use bottles with little openings and I paint the images and words on the rugs with the spout. The smaller opening gives me control of the flow of paint, and pouring the paint onto the jute rug keeps the lines clear since the paint just drips down. So for a few dollars I create e bright and cheerful way to welcome my guests.

A couple other things I did to create a fun porch are —

Spray Paint Elements to Match

I painted a thrifted child’s chair PINK and put a tree on it. This brings in a little more color to the overall porch.

Use Fresh Garlands

I used fresh garlands over the door and windows. Costco sells amazing garland and it’s inexpensive. I love the way fresh garland looks. In Utah because of the cold weather, fresh garland holds up well outside.

Wreaths on all the Windows

I hung a wreath on each of the windows. The wreaths aren’t real. I store them and use them every year. Sometimes I switch out the ribbons to change up the look of the decor. Also – to hang the wreaths I use command hooks on the windows. They work great.

Wrap up some Packages

If you want to add a little more color to your door or porch, wrap up some packages in colors that go along with your theme and stack them on your porch. This is a great inexpensive way to create a more festive porch.

Pillows

I put pillows out on my porch. I wrap the pillow forms inside in a plastic bag to protect the pillow form. Then I use washable covers on the outside. That way I can take them in and wash them when the season is over and reuse them again the next year. And the pillow forms are still fine to use inside later.

Here’s a simple idea that is so cute for the holidays — make a galvanized farmhouse wreath! It only takes a few minutes and the simple colors and idea will work with any decor! You can make it for inside or outside your home! I created ours to hang on our front door. I think it looks so cute with our plaid black and white rug.

And I love Christmas villages. This wreath has a tiny little village inside. I added a little red sign that echos the BIG wooden sign I made for the front door.

Of course you can add anything you want inside your wreath! Craft stores have miniature village pieces that work so well for this. I added different sized bottle brush trees, a little red sled and hung a tiny wreath on the little ornament house!

I found the galvanized wreath at Hobby Lobby. Isn’t it great? After the holidays are over I plan to take the insides out and make a winter scene. I could do this all year long! The galvanized exterior should hold up well outside.

Here’s how to make a Galvanized Farmhouse Holiday Wreath

Supplies:

Galvanized Wreath

Bottle Brush Trees

Ornament House

White “snow” fabric

Small Sign

Ribbon

Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

Directions: 

Fold up the fabric “snow” material and lay it inside the wreath.

Place your main item inside the wreath. For my wreath this was the small ornament house.

Glue the house down and glue the surrounding trees.

Glue the sign on the outside of the wreath.

Add ribbon or any other embellishments.

Hang up your wreath!

SO easy!

To create the snowy wreath base, I only used 2 items: 1. White Stryrofoam wreath form 2. Red Heart brand Buttercup yarn in white (affiliate link included) I wrapped the entire wreath form with the yarn, the only place I glued it was at the very end. I just used a small dot of hot glue to make sure the end of the yarn was securely in place. That’s it! It looks like freshly fallen snow. I love it! Next up was making some miniature Christmas trees to add to the wreath. I have always loved the look of colored bottle brush trees, but the dying process just seems so messy! I wanted to see if I could make them with yarn instead, and I found this awesome tutorial from Fynes Designs. I used some of the yarn from my stash, copper wire from JoAnn Craft Store, a pair of needle nose pliers, and wire cutters to create my trees. I followed her tutorial, but instead of a drinking glass to wrap my yarn around, I used a bottle of craft paint so my trees would be a little smaller. I found these darling little birch wooden slices at JoAnn’s as well, and used these as my tree bases. To create a small hole in the birch circles, I used my drill and a 3/32″ drill bit. Then I trimmed the ends of the wire on each tree, added a small bead of hot glue into the hole, and inserted the tree into the base. What a cute little colorful forest! I arranged my trees and decided I liked the solid color trees together the best… I secured the trees in place inside the center of the wreath with hot glue. The black and white buffalo plaid ribbon is my favorite pattern right now, and I think it works perfectly with the bright colors of the yarn trees! What do you think?

I love waking up to a view of a snow-covered lawn and trees, isn’t it breathtaking? This year, I wanted to make a wreath for my door that reminded me of the beauty of winter. I found this amazing snow-flocked garland at my local nursery, and I knew it would be perfect. Nothing says cozy to me like a plaid flannel, and I wanted to incorporate that texture into the wreath too. I found the cutest decorative tape at Michaels in this red and black plaid pattern, and I was set! Here are the materials I used to make my winter woods wreath:

• 24″ Box wreath frame
• Americana multi-surface paint in Black Tie
• foam paintbrush
• 6″ paper mache letters (J-O-Y)
• Recollections crafting tape
• Flocked snowy garland (from Eagle Rock Nursery)
• Red cotton cording (2 yards)
• hot glue

I started by painting my box wreath frame black. (It comes in a dark forest green color, but I wanted it to be black to match my door.) Then I covered my paper mache letters in the plaid tape, matching the pattern as well as I could. Once the letters were finished I might have let out a little happy scream because I loved them so much!

I placed the snowy garland around the edges of the wreath frame until I had them where I wanted them. Then I just attached the garland to the frame in periodic spots with hot glue. My finishing touch were the red berries. Instead of buying a sprig of faux berries, I wanted to make them out of a textile material, so I started experimenting with this red cording. I tied a few knots in the cording and came up with a shape that I liked.

I made all of the berries, then attached them to the wreath with hot glue. Finally, I strung the JOY letters together with a thin white cord and glued it to the sides of the wreath. I am pretty excited with how it turned out!

The wreath really sets the tone of my Christmas decor this year… here is my red, plaid and white mantel to match!
