Cottage Decorating Ideas for Your Entry

We have two entryways in our home. I love using simple ideas to update the spaces for different seasons! For our front entry I added some simple black and white pillows, a plaid rug and my Dollar Store Fall Wreath.

I recently wallpapered our back entryway and I love the way removable wallpaper updated the space! The black and white whimsical print makes me so happy! I added a gold pumpkin and I enjoy how it shines with the sunlight streaming through our backdoor. Ii also added a little saying on the mirror shelf and a little pumpkin there.

Cottage Decorating Ideas for Your Kitchen

Our kitchen is one of my favorite places to decorate for fall. We spend so much time in there, especially in the fall. I love the smell of soup simmering in the crockpot and fresh breadsticks baking in the oven. Be sure to check out my Mom’s Quick Buttery Breadsticks.

Add a Fall Sign to Your Stove

I added a little spooky sign in front of our stove. I love the way it looks against the cutting board.

Decorate with Fresh Pumpkins

I love using fresh pumpkins for fall! These little pumpkins with their curved stems are so adorable. I piled them up on a cake plate and they bring some color into our kitchen. You can read more about my kitchen at my Fall Kitchen Tour.

Add a Kitchen Wreath

I made the simplest wreath ever and hung it on our kitchen hood. I added a pink bow to the wreath to match our overall home decor. You don’t have to use traditional fall colors when you are decorating. Use things that go with YOUR home.

Add Fall Signs

I love typography in my home. Simple signs add a special fall vibe to our open shelves.

Create a Simple Fresh Centerpiece

I added fresh pumpkins in a tobacco basket in the center of our dining room table. I adore the imperfections in fresh pumpkins. Such an easy way to bring fall to your kitchen table.

Fall Ideas For Your Cottage Family Room

We just built this new shiplap fireplace and we planked the walls too! This is our first fall with our new fireplace and I am having such a great time decorating it! I got out my box of fall decorations and had such a great time creating some different fall mantel ideas. Fall Cottage Fireplace Decorating Ideas

I created a bright and colorful fall mantel with my dollar store pumpkin wreath, a black and white manel and a fresh greens mantel. Then I ended up using a very simple mantle. All it takes is a garland, fresh pumpkins and some fresh flowers.

Cottage Decorating Ideas for Your Stairs

If you have stairs in your home you might not think about decorating them for fall. I decorated our stairs in two ways. The first way was I added fresh mums and pumpkins. I love the color on our stairs. I installed this runner a week ago and I am so in love with it. To emphasize the runner I added small pumpkins on the treads up the stairs and I adore this simple idea looks. I also added a DIY chalkboard with a fall saying and pumpkins at the top of the staircase for fun.

Fall Cottage Porch Decorating Ideas

Another space I love decorating is our front porch. I also made a few different versions of our front porch. I create a colorful fall porch, a black and white fall porch and for Halloween a Spooky Forest Halloween Porch!

Bright Summer Mantel with DIY Paper Banner

I love creating pretty home decor with pretty paper! One of my favorite spaces to decorate is our NEW mantel! I created a bright and happy mantel with a darling paper banner and some bright and happy things I already had on hand!

DIY Paper Banner Using Scrapbook Paper

This paper banner uses 4×3 paper sayings and it is SO easy to put together! I just cut the sayings apart and then added a few embellishments

New Hey! Hello! Paper at JoAnn Stores

My new Hey! Hello! line is NOW available at JoAnn Stores!! Hurray!! You can grab it at your local store or go online and have it delivered right to your door.

Hey! Hello! Paper Line Cuttable Paper Sayings

One of the things I love most about the new Hey! Hello! line are the specialty saying papers! There is a paper for ANY occasion which makes creating cards SO easy! There is a friendship paper, get well/sympathy, birthday and thank you papers!

Make a 5-Minute DIY Paper Banner

I cut apart the friendship and a little of the thank you papers to create this banner! Each specialty paper has 3×4 and 2×2 sayings plus tags for gift giving. I used all of the shapes on this banner!

Attach Hey! Hello! Embellishments

The Hey! Hello! line also has the most adorable die cuts and embellishments. Then I added a few embellishments to the banner peices.

Hole Punch the Top of Each Banner Piece

I used the hold punch that comes in the Banner Board Punch. It’s so handy! It’s great for making banner pieces out of scrapbook paper.

Thread Twine Through Each Banner Piece

Then all I had to do is thread a piece of twine through each of the banners to connect them together. And hang it up!

Create a Bright Summer Mantel

Hang Up a DIY Paper Banner

I hung the paper banner on the mantel. I secured the ends by placing them under some candle sticks.

Add Additional Elements

White candlesticks provided some neutral elements that I used to layer under the brighter items.

Frame Bright Scrapbook Paper

I added a main saying that is a blown up version of one of the embellishments in my Hey! Hello! line. I love the “Put Your Positive Pants On” saying – I say it to my kids all the time!! I also framed some scrapbook papers from the line and put those on both sides of the mantel.

Add Fresh Greens

You can add bright fresh flowers or faux ones like I did. I added a few branches of pink flowers and a potted topiary to bring a sense of “freshness” to the mantel.

Make Paper Medallions for Color

Another element I brought in is a paper medallion. Paper medallions are so easy and fun to make! Check out my Paper Medallion tutorial to make some for YOUR mantel or shelf!

Other Ways to Use DIY Paper Banners

You can use your paper banner on a mantel or a shelf. But you can also use a paper banner on a doorway or a wall! A fun idea is to make a friendship paper banner and decorate a friend’s door for their birthday or as a way of saying congratulations on something fun!

Colorful Boho Cottage Spring Tour

Hey guys! How’s everyone holding up?? This week has been a doozy with all of the corona virus and to top it off we had two earthquakes yesterday here in Utah. So we are home and I love being with the kids. Before all of this craziness happened I did a little easy decorating for Spring.

Easy Ways to Add Colorful Spring Elements to Your Home

I figure we can all use some pretty flowers and easy ways to keep our homes looking pretty while we are inside. I hope you will join me for my little tour! And be sure to check out all of the other easy Spring ideas that my friends are sharing too! You can find all of the tours at the bottom of this post!

Bright Flower Front Porch

Come on in! Here’s our easy Flower front porch. I used items I already had, except for the front door wreath which I made this year. The kids and I made sharpie eggs and I used them to create this easy Spring wreath.

Black and White Whimsical Entryway

This is our entryway! I kept things simple with a black and white theme and a few pops of color. The wreath is from one of my favorite online stores — Teal and Orange. I bought it a few years ago and bought one for each of my sisters and mom for Mother’s Day. I love the stripes and flowers.

Spring Plaid Office

Here’s my office with a few touches of spring! I created an easy Spring Flower Mantel with some items I already had. I also decorated my Dream Box for Spring. It was so easy because I cut out paper from my Pebbles Hey! Hello! line and put the papers in the fronts of all of the clear boxes.

Spring DreamBox Decor

Then I added a little garland to the top of the Dreambox and these are bigger version of some of the embellishments that are in that collection.

I love the “Put Your Positive Pant On” sign. That is definitely what I am trying to do now LOL.

Here’s my Dreambox all the way open. You can see the black and white papers that I put in the front of each of the clear boxes. It’s easy to change paper out to change up the look of your room. And I love having the ability to have the box closed, open half-way and all the way open when I am crafting!

Boho Cottage Dining Table

I added some color to our dining room with this bright and a colorful runner that I found at target. I added some plaid and flower melamine plates. They were so inexpensive – $3 each. I plan on using them all spring and summer long.

Bright Cottage Floral Centerpiece

Of course I had to add some real flowers. I grabbed a few bunches of tuplips when I was at Trader Joes.

I put the flowers on top of a wood cutting board and added some branches and lemons and I love how pretty it is.

You can also do this with faux flowers and use it every year!

Boho Cottage Spring Shelves

On our shelves I added a few spring elements. I found these white birdhouses a few years ago at Homegoods. Tiny bud vases are perfect for putting on place settings or adding them around the home.

Here I added the bud vases on each shelf to bring some fresh color to the wall.

Colorful Boho Dining Room Swing

We just barely hung our new Boho Double Swing in the nook across from our dining table. I think it’s the perfect size and the kids love sitting in it and reading books and also telling me about their day while I make dinner!

To bring a little Springtime into this space, I added some bright pink pillows and cozy throws.

Bringing Boho Elements into the Family Room

I continued the boho theme into our family room with our big egg chair. It’s an outdoor chair but I love it in the family room.

This chair is my kids’ favorite place to hang out, check out tik toks and watch movies. It’s big enough for two people to sit and the dogs love snuggling up in the chair with us too!

Bright Boho Pillows

I also brought color into our family room with these bright boho pillows. I love the simple patterns and bright colors they bring to the room.

Our dogs love taking naps on the pillows too LOL!

Spring Flower Print Focal Point

At the other end of the room I added some bright flower prints and some fresh flowers in a whimsical polka dot pot.

These pictures are some of my favorites. They’ve been all over our home. I had them in our dining room and bedroom in our old house, now they’re in our new family room.

Follow Along with our 1891 Home Remodel

We are right in the middle of our remodel so there’s not much to see in the kitchen yet. But I am so excited about what the home is going to look like next year! I hope you will follow along with our remodel. We are restoring our 1891 home and it’s a joy to wake up every day in our dream home!
