Hi friends! It’s August and since it’s been raining the last few days, I am getting in the mood for fall. I had a big pile of paper bags under our kitchen sink and I thought instead of throwing them in the recycling bin, why not make something out of them for fall? The warm brown hues and the rough paper texture seemed perfect for fall!

Upcycle Paper Bags into Craft Projects

I had so much fun creating paper snowflakes last Christmas that I have been looking for another project to se paper bags for and this one is so easy! So instead of throwing those paper grocery store bags away or in your recycling can, save them to make crafts with!

Paper Bag Leaf Garland is a Free Project

I love a free project! It feels kind of magical turning trash into something to display. I found items around my house for this project so it doesn’t cost anything!

Where Can You Display a Paper bag Leaf Garland?

I created this garland to go on my mantel, but the beauty of this idea is that you can make this project to go almost anywhere in your home. You can display this on a shelf, above a cabinet or instead of glueing the paper leaves to a branch, glue them to a string and hang it over a doorway or over a bed to welcome fall !

Supplies to Make a Paper Bag Leaf Garland

All you need to make this project are:

• 8-10 paper grocery store bags
• 1-2 branches from your yard (or heavy cord if you don’t want to use a branch)
• Hot glue gun and glue sticks
• Metallic paint (optional)

How to Make a Paper Bag Leaf Garland

• The first thing I did was cut my bags apart so I had the front and back of the bag as a flat surface.
• Trace a leaf on a bag. I have included a template if you want to use mine. Just print it off, cut around the leaf template and use it to trace and cut out leaves on your paper bags. I included three different sizes.
• Cut out your leaves. I cut out the larger leaves first.
• Then take the scraps and cut out the smaller leaves.
• Arrange your branches on your mantel or shelf.
• Hot glue leaves to the branches. Start with the large leaves and fill in with the medium and small leaves, layering as you go.
• Optional – add a little shine to your leaves by adding veining with metallic paint and outlining some of the leaves.

Wonderful Warm Fall Projects

Happy weekend, friends! How’s your September going so far? This year has flown by! I do love this time of year. I love nesting and making our home warm and cozy in anticipation of fall weather.

We are still working on our girls’ bathroom. I can announce that we officially have a toilet now! Yay! The floor is done and now we are working on putting the room back together. I have a PINK element that hopefully is getting installed this week. I can’t wait!

The first day of school, I got up early and made her a hearty breakfast. We got over to the school early. I crossed my fingers and said I would see her in a few hours.

When I picked her up that afternoon she was surrounded by friends and had a smile on her face. I asked her how her day had gone – and she said “I don’t know why I was so worried. Everything was fine!”

Three Easy Gift Ideas with Paper Gift Tags 

Here are three easy gift ideas with paper gift tags!

Simple Life Paper

I used paper from my My Simple Life line. I love the icons in the line. There are strawberries, lemons, vintage icons like pyrex bowls, mixers, even lamas!!

You’re Berry Sweet

Make a Berry theme gift! I planted a strawberry plant in a pot and created a simple tag with paper from My Simple Life Line. I added ribbon to the rim of the pot and tied the tag on!

Other berry gift ideas could be — berry jam, a baked berry pie or dessert, Berry candies in a jar, etc. There are so many possiblities!

Lemon Gift Idea with Paper Tag

The second gift idea I want to share with you is this little jar filled with lemon candies! I love lemon anything! All I did for this gift idea was wrap a jar with a strip of lemon paper from the My Bight Life line. To make sure the paper is the right size, lay the jar on top of the paper, mark the beginning and then roll the paper around the jar until it meets and mark that other end. Then cut it out and either hot glue the paper to the jar or I used glue dots.

Then I used lemon embellishment from My Bright Life line that says – every day is a fresh start. I just used a glue dot to attach that on top of the paper strip, and I tied a ribbon on the handle of the pail!

Other lemon ideas you could use for this gift idea are — lemon candies, lemon treats, even lemon essential oils!

Mug Gift Idea with Paper Tag

This is a great gift for a teacher. Take a mug and fill it with anything your teacher likes! I filled mine with paper flowers I created with My Bright Life paper and pom poms! That way my teacher can either use the mug or use the mug as a pretty focal point on her desk. I attached a tag with vintage teacups on it – that tag is on a paper in the My Bright Life line. So easy!

Other mug ideas could be — fill the mug with hot chocolate packets, out a Starbucks gift card inside, fill the mug with candies, fill the mug with a gift card to Target or an office supply company like Staples so the teacher can get classroom supplies. So many ideas!

Why You’re Going to want to download the new Chick-fil-A One App

We’ve started a new adventure this year with a new move and new home. One of the things that I have discovered over the past couple of years is how important spending quality time with my kids is. Time goes by so fast and those moments with the kids can’t be gotten back again. Every single minute is so precious. I am so blessed to be able to blog and do something that is so creative and wonderful, but I want to make sure to spend my time wisely so I can spend as much time as I can with my children. That’s why I was so excited to try out Chick-fil-A’s new One app.

I actually had read a friend’s comment about the One app on Facebook saying it saved them a lot of time the weekend before I tried the app. And anything that saves time is a good thing!

Here’s what happened when we tried out the new Chick-fil-A One app:

Chick-fil-A One has two main functions that save time. One, it gives users the ability to place an order and pay for it ahead of time, therefore skipping any potentially long lines at their local Chick-fil-A store; and two, it enables the user to earn free food based on a running history of their purchases.

Saving Time for Families

The mobile ordering works like this: The app uses your phone’s built-in location services to show you the closest Chick-fil-A locations. Pick one, and then browse the in-app menu to select your meal. I let the kids pick out what they wanted to do. It was great!

I love also that the app has an “Allergens Filter”. My daughter’s boyfriend has a life-threatening nut allergy so this feature comes in handy for us!

I LOVE that you can customize anything on the menu. You want pepper jack cheese on your chicken sandwich instead of colby jack? Why yes, that sounds yummy. You want extra ice on your lemonade and a splenda? No problem.

You can load your mobile wallet with funds in the  Chick-fil-A One app to purchase food quickly. You can do this using  Visa Checkout or a credit or debit card. Super easy.

It’s also easy to score free food. The rewards are referred to as “Treats,” and the app uses a circular chart to show how close you are to earning your next “Treat.” Once the circle fills up with red – you can earn a free item. I haven’t received anything for free yet but the promise of free food is exciting to the kids LOL.

When you are close to your Chick-fil-A location you can click the “I’m Here” button. You can get “carry out” and simply go in to your Chick-fil-A location and show a worker your phone with the QR code and pick up your food. Skip the line!  But my favorite part was selecting the “cubside” delivery option. There is a designated section in the parking lot for curbside deliveries and all you have to do is pull into that area and soon a very nice Chick-fil-A worker will bring your food right to your car. And one of our very favorite parts of the experience was when our nice worker said “my pleasure”. So fast and convenient!

The only suggestion that I have if you use the app is to check your order. We had a few items that were left off. But as soon as we brought it to the Chick-fil-A workers attention the order was updated.

We took our order to the park and spent the afternoon having fun. I love that the Chick-fil-A app is so easy to use and saved us time. We will be using it again. Especially now that school is starting and life is going back into overdrive.
