Friday Favorites and a winner

I decided to take my kids to the movies instead of writing up the Friday Favorites, so -- sorry they are late. We had a great time. I took them to see Disney's Tooth movie. I thought it was very funny! Of course my older kids had to pretend that they didn't like it (but I think they did). My husband was working in Toronto all week and then his flight got delayed by 7 hours. So it got us out of the … [Read more...]

Valentine Project: Coffee Filter Pom Pom Banner

heading picture

This idea was thought up by the fabulous  Pam Garrison and I have also seen it on Heather Bullard's blog. I loved it, and wanted to make some for my home. I thought it would be fun to dye the coffee filters different shades of pink to make a pom pom banner for Valentine's Day. This is what I was working on yesterday... Here's what I did: First of all, I took two big bowls of hot … [Read more...]

Reader Spotlights!!

I've had a few people email me pictures of projects that they did based on mine. It is so humbling and amazing to me that anyone would want to make one of my projects. I just had to share them with you! Valentine Wreath: Tara at The Pottery Shed - I love the heart in the white flower - cute! Chrissy at A Little Dash Of Diva -- I love the colors in this one! Romin at Romin The Midwest made … [Read more...]

Pottery Barn – inspired Number Pillows & a Giveaway!!

I have admired these pillows from Pottery Barn for a while, plus I love numbers. So I thought it would be fun to try to make something similar. Of course I changed it up a little... I bought my fabric at Hobby Lobby and decided to try canvas because I thought they would hold up really well out of that material.   I made the stencils in Microsoft Word by using Bodoni 1200 point. I couldn't … [Read more...]

XOXO Valentine Project Tutorial

heading picture (1)

Here's a cute little craft to bring a little Valentine happiness to your home! (I repurposed my Dollar Tree frames from my "Fall" grouping, except for one frame that I scrounged up here).   And the great thing is that you can take out the Valentine XOXO and store them, and then use the Dollar Tree frames again for a different project. I also used a large black frame that I had and made … [Read more...]

Whew - what a week! I don't know about you, but Friday is my favorite day of the week. And my kids have Monday off so hopefully it will be a nice, laid-back weekend! There were so many fun projects around this week! Alexis from My Mama Made It! came up with this very Anthro-ish dress. I need one. I love that material and the ruffles. And she paired it with some great boots. So flirty and … [Read more...]

Another Family Rules Canvas

My Family Rules canvas is probably my favorite project of 2009. Thanks to Lindsey  over at Pleated Poppy who's best friend Nicole came up with the original idea. When I posted my canvas, Wenderful said she wanted one for Christmas. And of course I was happy to make one for her. Although I did have her come up with her own "rules". She has a bright and cheerful house, so I thought yellows … [Read more...]

Closet Makeover — keeping it real

This is what I was working on this weekend. And yes, I know it really needed it! I wasn't going to show you the "before" picture because it is horrifyingly messy -- but I am going to keep it real. There are so many blogs with great organizing tips and ways to be efficient, they really inspired me! So here it is. I was so busy over Christmas that I just threw stuff in there and figured that … [Read more...]

Whimsical Valentine Wreath

cupcakelinerwreath

I was reading Martha Stewart last month (I think) and they had these giant Christmas balls made out of cupcake liners. And I thought to myself - maybe I could use cupcake liners to make a wreath for Valentine's Day...   I love the texture of the liners. After a little trial and error, this is what I came up with. I found some cupcake liners at Hobby Lobby. I really wanted … [Read more...]
