Closet Makeover — keeping it real

This is what I was working on this weekend. And yes, I know it really needed it! I wasn’t going to show you the “before” picture because it is horrifyingly messy — but I am going to keep it real. There are so many blogs with great organizing tips and ways to be efficient, they really inspired me!

So here it is. I was so busy over Christmas that I just threw stuff in there and figured that I would deal with it later.

Now after seeing that you should feel really good about your closet. It couldn’t possibly look worse!

I ended up filling 8 bags of clothes/shoes to donate. And three bags of clothes that I hope to refashion this year! And you know what, it was actually freeing to declutter and it was fun to organize the closet!!!
I bought some pop-up bins in the Dollar Section at Target.
Then I made some chalkboard labels for the bins. And decoupaged some clothespins to hold them onto the bins…
I sorted all of my t-shirts into color, folded them up and put them in their own bins.
Now I can figure out where everything is — which is great!

And I made a little burlap magnet board with Ikea magnetic holders for my jewelry.

One of my commenters suggested getting nice hangers for a more uniform look. I just remembered that Target had matching blue velvety ones in the Dollar Section that match! I think I am going to go see they have any more tomorrow!!!

And now that I’m (almost) done with the black and white closet, I’m working on a little redo of my master bedroom. What project have you been working on??

Have a great day :)
keeping it real update: just locked my keys in the car and husband is out of town. I guess I have to call the locksmith… Locksmith came, $60 later….

XOXO

Where did you get the white cubbies that you put the big baskets in? Great post

  2. I really liked the way you organized your clothes by color. This is something I have not really thought of doing.

  3. Beautiful closet. I love the bins for diff colored tshirts. Horrible about your keys. I once locked my keys in the car and once AAA came to open it realized I was out of gas. Double Whammy!

  4. You did a great job – I cannot believe you got those bins for $1 at Target. I may have to run over there today and see if I can find some. I love to organize, too!

I love the way you organized everything in containers and from the dollar section at Target! It doesn't have to be expensive to be beautiful!
And the burlap magnet board…you had me at burlap!
    Great job!
