More Burlap Projects: Whimsical Burlap Pillows

I am just having so much fun with burlap.Yesterday I experimented and came up with these pillows.
I have had a great time stenciling on burlap, but I wanted to try something new. I found some really great images on The Graphics Fairy. This is a great place to find royalty-free images you can use for projects. I decided to use iron-on transfer paper. I didn’t know if it would work on the rough burlap surface, but decided to give it a try.
It transferred really well. I was so excited. I added some wool hounds-tooth material to the back and big pom-pom fringe.
And you know my obsession with cupcakes? Well I love my Keep Calm and Carry On sign that I have in my family room:
And I had heard this term around blogland, so I went into Microsoft Publisher and made this graphic:
Into this pillow:

 Thanks for coming by!
What are you doing this weekend? We are going to try to get to the Pumpkin Patch tonight. Have a great one!

  1. Hi there, I am creating a design on a burlap bag that will be filled with coffee beans – but the transfer paper I used did not work!! I need help! Can you tell me what type of transfer paper you are using? The one I used did not work at all and I ironed for a while :(

    Any help would be great!

  2. These are the cutest!! I am going to have to try it out.

Those turned out so good, I was wondering if you had a transfer trick. Mine come out kinda blotchy. (It doesnt ALL come off the paper ever.) How long do you iron for? Of is there another trick. Thanks!

  4. Your creativity is amazing and so inspiring! :) God blessed with you with such a great talent!

  5. oh, oh, oh…. i am in love with those burlap pillows, and head over heels about the cupcake!! — can't wait to give it a try, thank you for the inspiration!!

My friend Jenny from Everyday is a Holiday and her husband designed that stay calm and have a cupcake in August of 2008.

  7. I just love the cupcake!

I just tried to do this using ink jet iron on transfer paper and it didn't work for me. Could you share the brand you used? The black transferred but the cupcake pretty much disappeared. I used the kind of iron transfer paper that you print directly onto, and I'm wondering if you used something else that I should try!
