New 90210

This is what I watched Tuesday/Wednesday nights (I Tivo’d it). Why? I wasn’t the biggest fan of the original series, but I remember liking it for the first few seasons. Then when Ian Ziering was on Dancing with the Stars I rooted for him because of 90210 — the same with Jennie Garth.

I heard they were remaking the original 90210 and I wondered:

Will anyone from the original cast want to be in the new series?
How cheesy will it be? (because the original was pretty cheesy)
Will there be a Kelly/Brenda reunion/fight?
Will Dylan come back?
Will the new cast really be teenagers or 25 year-olds?

So I watched. 18 years later of course I can relate much more to the parents than to the teenagers. Like what 15 year old girl would dare to fly away on a private jet with some random guy she had just met to a different city, on a school night, and not tell her parents? She’d be so beyond grounded!

And I’m happy to report that the parents are much more attractive in the remake than they were in the original. Overall, I don’t think the teenagers are as attractive — which is weird. And, who in high school wears the things that they wear in this cheesy remake? The fashions were terrible: the arch-rival remake of Kelly is running around in some Julie McCoy navy and white blazer with pearls — to school! And, are people in high school really so trampy?

I was entertained. Mostly by laughing at how silly it was. I also realized that I don’t remember very much about the plot of the original show. I went on the internet later to see what other people thought about the show and there were all of these message boards full of people who were debated all sorts of plot lines and who was related to who. Did you know that Brandon and Kelly got married at the end of the original series and Donna and David also got married?
